I dont see what's the big deal, all those (in my opinion over powered devices) just hog battery power. Nokia has shown that devices that seem underpowered can be just as responsive as others that have the power. The question is will it perform and that all that matters.

The now-ancient N95 (as well as several older Nokia models) had dual 332's, coming out to a healthy 664 MHz. I don't see why they couldn't have topped that. Even the Nokia 5630 has the 600 MHz processor! Remember how slow the N96 turned out to be? 512mb of ram should be the next big goal, too. Or, 256mb if 512 is asking too much.

well~~if they do that n97 will lose to its direct competitor omnia hd, since its the same system, and omnia has 800mhz CPU when release, almost doubled the n97, and omnia got extra graphic hardware, well but still gotta take a look at the real things for final answer

But why would you put more processing power on a phone anyway ???

High-speed processors eat a HUGE amount of battery, so most of the time they are downclocked, which makes them useless. Either they are pure marketting or your device has a 3h battery life under load...

And what are they used for ?
-Make crappy games run on phones with terrible ergonomics
-Show gorgeous 3d interfaces that will make your phone so laggy you'll cry at the vendor to get your nokia 3310 back
-Show HD video in real time on a 3" screen

This is so useless...

Finally, someone with common sense... a phone is a phone... it needs to be able to make phone calls with excellent quality before anything else!!

Nokia N-Series phones have always had excellent call quality, the N97 will be no different.
