Nokia E62 pops up on FCC

The FCC approved the Nokia E62 a few months ago, but its documents weren't available until now. The images and the manual reveal that the E62 remains in the same design as the E61 is built in, and shares most of its features. There are simple changes in the outer look, like replacing the Pop-Up port with a miniUSB port and 2.5mm jack for stereo output. The keyboard (a QWERTY one) has some keys rearranged, to get some place ready for an “Own” Symbian button. The most important difference is that the E62 lacks both 3G (UMTS) and wireless network (Wi-Fi), which were present in the E61. Probably Nokia has some problems developing a dual-band 850/1900 UMTS phone, which Cingular requires for their 3G network, but there is no significant reason to cut off the Wi-Fi connectivity. At least Bluetooth and Infrared are still present. Nokia E62 main specifications are:

  • GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz; GPRS/EDGE
  • QVGA 320x240 screen, displaying up to 16mln colors
  • Full QWERTY Keyboard
  • Bluetooth 1.2, Infrared, miniUSB and 2.5mm audio connector
  • miniSD slot for memory expansion
  • Operating on Symbian OS with Series 60 Interface
