No more Apple at Macworld?

advertisment:
The day has finally come when Apple's presence at Macworld will no longer take place among the busy showroom floor. This will be the last time the company will exhibit at the Macworld Expo which will be held January 5-9 in San Francisco. In addition to that, Steve Jobs will not be heading the opening keynote for this year's event unfortunately. Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller, will be taking the dubious honor of taking Jobs' place. For many years, Steve Jobs has been delivering exceptional speeches during the event which gave consumers plenty of interest in their product lineup. He also single handedly provided an image to a renowned powerhouse company known for their imaginative and innovative products.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CELL PHONES, AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH CONVENTIONS! In case you're lacking in cranial mass, the last time I checked, Macworld was still a convention, that showcased Apple products, NOT the other way around. I'm in agreeance with the other posters on this topic; I think that having such an off cell phone topic proves what hypocrites they are in the way they censor postings that they "claim" have nothing to do with a topic, yet they post topics that have no bearing on the cell phone community! In any case, it doesn't matter if Apple no longer comes along to make a keynote at Macworld since it has from the beginning been all about Apple products regardless. The only diff now is that you won't have hagard-looking Stevie Jobs parading around in a turtle neck and jeans yee-hawing all of his marvelous creations. BTW, I'm a big Apple fan, and one day hope VZW gets a version of the iphone, but that doesn't change my opinion about this topic.

bebe6ora: firstly, I will not lower myself to the level of name calling because I feel people should be able to post opinions without taking it personally. It benefits no one to act so childishly. I suggest you keep this in mind when addressing others in the future.

To answer your question about why I left my comment: i feel that this site posts any nugget of information they can about Apple. I would like to see it be a bit more balanced, so I am excercising my right to express my opinion in hopes that others will agree and phonearena will take note. So I feel that it is not at all a waste of time to try to influence what types of news articles are posted by this site.

Like YouLostTheGame above me, I do not hate Apple. I have an iPod Touch and think it's a wonderful device. That doesn't mean I want to see every little piece of news about Apple on a site that is dedicated to cellphones.

If YOU don't like that, perhaps you should ignore my comment.

what does this have to do with the cell industry? MACworld offers little in the way of iphone news anyways. Its just another "iloveapple" puff piece, so all the lil applezombies can have a cry that they wont have steve jobs to tell them in a nice soft voice just how lovely the curvature on the brushed aluminum is or how its good for their souls (and bad for their wallets)
