*UPDATE* Niagara: CDMA BlackBerry 9000

BGR is reporting that RIM is preparing a low-speed alternative to the BlackBerry 9000, codenamed Niagara. Other than the missing 3G details are sparse on this new device, though we don't imagine too much will change. The overall design is similar to the 9000, but there are some unique differences to the Niagara such as the larger bezel and battery door design.
Update: Looks like the names got mixed up. The Niagara is actually an EVDO unit which is said to be launching on Verizon in May of 2009, while the Javelin is the 3G-less GSM version.
