New text messaging record broken by O2

advertisment:
While everyone was counting down to the New Year a few days ago, they were also mass text messaging everyone in their phonebooks as well. European wireless carrier O2 has stated that a record 166 million messages were sent over its network over a 24 hour period ending at 7:30 AM on New Year's Day. Rather than calling up everyone on their phone, text messaging seems to be the best option to get in touch with a lot of people at once. In addition, over 16 million text messages were saved by O2 customers using O2 Bluebook which backs up phone numbers and automatically saves every text and photo message online. So far no word yet on any information oh how domestic carriers in the U.S. fared in text messages sent over the New Year.

I think it depends on how many customers O2 has , it doesn't say. O2 probably doesn't have the customers that ATT or VZ has.

They are not even close to the customers T-Mo has...I had to Google it to see and this site says they have 17.8 million. So a little over 9 text per customer in a 24 hour period is nothing crazy. This has to be a Euro record becasue VZW could break this with every customer sending 3 text in a 24 hour period.
