New Verizon phones due out by the end of the year This article contains unofficial information.

We have received some information from a source within Verizon detailing some new phones that are due out over the next few months. We have listed them below for easy viewing. Thank you "SnapDude"!

LG Chocolate Touch VX8575. This will be Verizon's 4th Chocolate phone (after the VX8500, VX8550 and VX8560) and is expected to have a full touchscreen interface, but we're not sure how close it will resemble the BL40.
BlackBerry Storm 2 9550. We've heard about this for a while now and is expected out by October-November.
Nokia Shade 2705. Basic replacement to the Mirage 2605.
Nokia Twist 7705. This might be the swivel-style phone that has been rumored for months.

Palm Treo 800W. Even though this was released for Sprint last year, Verizon may not have it out until February 2010.
Motorola Entice (or Harmony) W766. Replacement to the W755.
Samsung Rogue U960. Replacement to the Glyde U940 and expected out in August.
Samsung U450. The U450 will feature Verizon Mobile TV service (MediaFLO).
Samsung Strut U440. The long-overdue Strut U440 will have a compact QWERTY keyboard.
Samsung Omnia-II i920. The new Omnia-II is expected to be out by Christmas.

There are also going to be four new PTT devices:
Motorola V860
Samsung Convoy U640
Casio Rock C731
Casio Brigade C741

omnia 2 expected "by Christmas"..... ouch. What happened to July? I'll bet the TP2 doesn't get released until next summer... right about when the "TP3" is being advertised.

your probably right! vzw usually gets them last, just like the palm treo 800W! the phone has been out since LAST year& their not getting it until feb of 2010! WTF! TP2 would be nice to get on VZW, but i bet they'll be the last of the bigger four carriers to get it!!!!

You probably work for one of VZW's competitors anyways, xcalibur. So let me get this straight, you would leave a company so close to LTE launch and lock yourself into a 2yr contract because of a WINMO phone? Because we all know that WINMO is NOT the way to go. lol

Well, the fact of the matter is, Sprint will have Wimax, Tmobile's 3g when completed will be highest standard in america because of frenqencey and umts,hsdpa, and wcdma, and AT&T is currently updating therir 3g to european stndards which is way faster than american 3g. LTE is GSM based. All AT&T and Tmobile has to do at that time is minor updates which will leap frog into LTE. Verizon has to build a whole new GSM base factor in which you may ecounter the cost there of. Possibly

Facts & Truth,

Your leave out some important information. WiMax will be ahead of LTE by about another 12 months but once LTE launches it will make WiMax look like an endangered species. The data that has been collected shows that LTE is much more faster than WiMax. Now as far as ATT&T goes, I agree with you that they are in fact putting a lot of money in improving their 3G speeds to make them faster than other carriers. However, this is coming at a cost. They're timetable for LTE is expected to launch a minimum of a year after Verizon launches LTE. The infrastructure for Verizon switching to GSM will be no different than what ATT & T and Cingular/Sprint and Nextel have been going through in order to get all of their customers under one network. They all the existing customers of the current carrier to continue to use the existing cell towers and as they come in to upgrade they will either purchase a hybrid device (similar what Verizon will offer with CDMA/GSM) or go completely to GSM depending on the time frame.

Yes this is true to an extent. ATT already has the infrastruture for LTE. So, Verizon has to get ahead of the the game because it will take them much longer and a whole lot more money to get into motion because they are cdma and lack the proper infrastruture unlike their co owner Vodafone. And U see what Sprint did. I was reading on Saturday night that when in motion it wont be much of a difference in LTE and WiMax. I looked at some of the speeds that are out right now and compared them to upoming LTE and personally I didn't see a difference except in technology and that it 30% cheaper to build and it wont be a world standard so far.

So let me get this straight ICanAffordVZW, you probably work for VZW, and you say that WINMO phones are NOT the way to go. So, you most like are a retail sales rep who owns a useless blackberry device... the only thing that blackberry has that winMO doesn't completely trump in every way is BBM. Windows phones have more ram more processing speed, more functionality, are cheaper to run from an IT standpoint for an Exchange server, are easier to develop applications for, and proved at least 100X more customization to the device... but you are right... WINMO phones are totally NOT the way to go.

I do work for VZW, but I am not a retail sales rep. WINMo devices need more RAM because if they dont have it, then their phones r u n v e r r y s l o w.

My last reason why WINMO is not the way to go is that:

Name a windows device that is worth its purchase price. Treo? HTC Touch? Diamond? 6900? 6800? 6700? MOTOROLA Q...?lol

The 800w is just a terrible device. I hope plam re-did litterally everything to that phone so that it's nothing like the current 800w. The Treo Pro on the otherhand rocks.

I don't believe that the omnia II will be release in December, I think it will come sooner. I think I learned my lesson on trusting phonearena remember that "tipster" who said a July release.. What makes this guy any different from the other one, for all I know it could be the same person who sent that crap. I know I got proof of a July release because I emailed them and they told me they anticipate on selling this month but I think that info was false( proof: samsung-omnia.org under samsung omnia II (i8000))

I was actually the one who posted some of this information on another site that will remain nameless. Most of the information that was posted over here was accurate....The storm II will be launching around the same time as last year as to allow those unhappy storm users to early upgrade to the new device. I can tell you that this new device will rid your mouth of that vomit taste you get whenever you here the words: "Blackberry Storm". The Omnia II will also have a similar launch date. Also, unless someone else is info that I do not, the Samsung 450 will not feature MediaFlo. However, the new PTT Samsung Convoy will. Also the Touch Pro 2 will be released but because of software issues we may be looking at January. At the same time it all depends on competitive advantage so it may be launched at the same time Sprint does. Any questions, ask away

First of all, this list was supposed to be comprised of "low to mid-range handsets", so it's makes sense that the TP2 isn't on the list. Also, no other carrier has released the TP2 in the US yet, and T-Mobile is the only one with a semi-confirmed release date. Therefore, don't assume Verizon will be that far behind everyone else. After all, the Tour was released by Verizon at the same time as other carriers, and the Snap (Ozone) was released around the same time as other carriers too, but Verizon's version is superior to all of them, since it is the only one with CDMA/GSM capabilities.

Im sorry I guess I am getting thrown off by all the questions. The Rogue will be launched by mid to late August. Everyone wants a date for phones but the fact of the matter is, there is no set date yet so I can only give my best estimate. No matter what I say it will be considered bullsh*t. I wont throw out a date unless I am certain. My best educated guess based on my position with Verizon would be:

Storm 2 - 2nd or 3rd week in November
Omnia 2 - similar date as Storm
Rogue - Mid to Late August
Touch Pro 2 - Mid to late December (Possibly January depending on this next round of testing)

Can you explain how Verizon is having software issues on a Touch Pro2 when the internal hardware is virtually identical to the existing Touch Pro? Is Verizon having trouble getting their App Store on the Touch Pro2? I seriously don't understand what software delay their could be. Also, Verizon does know that releasing a business device after the first of the year would negatively impact sales, right? Business owners (like myself) are looking for little end-of-the-year write-offs in the 3rd and 4th quarter, not at the beginning of the year when we're trying to get marketing campaigns off the ground.

Why doesn't Verizon just stick with providing good customer service and coverage, and let the grown-ups over at xda and ppcgeeks handle the software customizations?

That isn't completely true. Without going into boring details there is quite a few hardware changes as well as software. I agree that a proper working phone is more valuable launching in the 4th quarter than the 1st but they found out the hard way that launching a phone before its ready (i.e. the storm) is much more costly. A phone who's hardware is bad can be written off as being defective and Verizon can send it back to the manufacturer and recoup their money for the cost of that equipment. Now, a customer who returns equipment because the keyboard is frustrating, its freezes, etc. is different. Verizon must eat all that money when its software related. That is what we are trying to avoid. But I am just a simple messenger so I would appreciate if people could be polite (not directed at you ckeegan). thanks

C'mon, Verizon when the hell are you gone to get it. I love Verizon service but when it comes to your phone line up WTF. I have constantly had your back against AT&T fanyboys and Sprint or T-Mobile but you don't make it easy. We, the people that actually give two shits about phone technology are having a hard time understanding why the hell you back company's like Motorola, and don't do everything in your Power to get high end high tech phones like the Pre and frankly you should have been all over HTC's ass once you heard about the launch of there 2009/2010 phones, but again no dice. How about android, heard of that? You make it very difficult to love you when you obviously don't know what the hell consumers want. Do you think that a 49yr old women that went from a clam shell to an Iphone has any Idea how to use it, probably not, she just knows it cool. Those people are called consumers they spend money. Allright, so today I found out some pretty cool news and who better to share it with than complete strangers! The Motorola Android phone that has been rumored for Verizon is not as far away as we originally thought. It is considered a Smartphone and will be classified as the Motorola A855 (It currently doesn't have a name though I am sure they will go through about a 1,000 different names like they did with the Storm).

As soon as I get my hands on this bad boy I will share more info!

some kid on facebook said that his dad works for samsung and he told his dad to emailed the head people. he said that they are going to release it in october not december...so how accurate is your info, i have to believe it when i see it. i hear a july, august, october, and a decemeber release which one is more likely i hope august!!!

This is the best sounding news I've heard from verizon in a while I just don't know how long I can wait, have been off contract for the past year and need something badly. Since the o2 got FCC approval in June phones do have a pattern of hitting the market 4 months when approved so October looks right around the target for me. I believe the o2 will come a little sooner since the storm 2 is a little popular..that's just stupid, verizon is doing bad business do they even know that there customers is threating to leave for the iPhone because of bad decision making? Verizon has launch 2 major phones at the same time....The Omnia and Storm were only a few weeks apart. I will say that I am nowhere near a position of any kind of "decision making" but my coworkers are just as passionate about these phones as you guys are and none of us go around making suggestions like, "gosh this phone could use some more firmware, I hate options; I feel like I am ordering at the cheesecake factory!"

But in all seriousness, I wanted to make myself available to other consumers so that I can pass along suggestions so that we can distribute a better product. But I won't stick around and get hazed by some people.

your info is useful it's the fact that why is it taking so long for vzw to announce something? I want the o2 bad, people who have the gsm o2 are complaining already and calling it shity. So what makes the o2 CDMA version better?..I apologize about my rudeness but the waiting is just pissing me off a bit, because while everyone else is getting it early we will see ours by Christmas and something much better will be out by then.
