New Nokia RM-526 swivels for the FCC on the way to Verizon

Back in the middle of April, we reported about a new phone for Nokia that the guys at BGR illustrated based on their first impressions of the handset. The picture was a drawing of a square display that swiveled out of the way to reveal a square QWERTY keyboard. With a handset that has square back making its way through the FCC, we now can see that such a device exists.  The internal model is the RM-526 and it runs on dual band CDMA/EV-DO. Back last month, it was thought that the device would be running on the non-smart Series 40 interface. Nothing new has developed that would shoot that information down, or confirm it. Based on the data given to the FCC for the test, the RM-526 runs software version VN_2040T13_VZW_108. And yes, the VZW tells us that this device is headed for Big Red. Launch date and pricing is still unknown.

"PapaJay224" should learn how to spell too - try "hysterically." LOL

By the way, all this joking should not detract from the total stupidity of this phone. I'm a big Verizon fan and wish they had better phone selection. The Storm, Alias-2, and Pearl Flip are a step in the right direction, but this phone idea is plain stupid. I cannot believe some business executive okay'd the development of this phone. It's going to be a huge flop and that executive will be fired. Just like Donald Trump fires people with one finger pointed at them... "you're fired!"

i would have to agree with how ridiculously stupid this phone looks. Nokia couldn't give two shits about the US market when they have the infinitesimally large Asian and European markets, who obviously after that statement get any and all of the worthwhile Nokia phones. Simply because they do not like making phones for certain carriers whereas in Europe and Asia you can have any phone on any carrier so they don't have to make them to a carriers specifications. Even the Iphone is considered shit in most of the asian markets where in the U.S. we are in awe at its utter domination over other smart phones and touch screen phones to the point where we have to have every phone compared to it to decide whether its good or not.
