Motorola DROID vs. BlackBerry Storm2 in Verizon Video showdown This article contains unofficial information.

About a week ago, the Motorola DROID took on the BlackBerry Storm2 in a battle of top Verizon smartphones. Even though the video is a week old, we thought that those of you trying to decide which phone to buy might appreciate seeing this smackdown in action. And while we don't want to give anything away, check out the speed of the browser on the device that won the browser speed test. This alone might help you come to a decision. Anyway, in this corner we have the Storm2 9550 and in the other corner, it is the Motorola DROID. Let's get ready to Rummmmmmmmmble.

The on-screen keyboard comparison wasn't a fair comparison. You didn't compare the portrait QUERTY with the portrait QUERTY or the on-screen landscape QUERTY with the on-screen landscape QUERTY.

Your misspelling on the Blackberry also shouldn't count against it.

It's also clear he isn't very familiar with the Storm. He said you could only have 8 buttons on the home screen. However Storm owners know that in the options you can select between 1 row (4 buttons) and 3 rows (12 buttons), or a home screen with no buttons, but direct links to phone, email, and calendar.

While I agree the browser on the Storm sucks, RIM has made clear that it's going to work on improving that. I just hope they don't wait as long to fix the browser as they did to fix the phone itself and it's operating system.

In my opinion, this guy is pretty horrible with his typing period. He obviously doesn't send text messages often. Why is he punching the keys on the storm2 and the landscape of the droid? Horrible examples.

I played with a droid yesterday. . .I like the phone. The keyboard isnt as bad as I thought it would be. I wish it offered an onscreen keyboard option. I am in the market for a new phone and i dont think I'd be satisfied by a blackberry, iphone, android, and certainly not a palm pre-cum. The only phones offering full multi-media and plug-in PC like browsing are Windows Phones with the download of the Skyfire Browser. Put those capabilities on an Android, Blackberry and the iPhone ASAP!

This isn't true.. it just depends on what type of user you are as to which type of OS is best for you. I'm sure there are a lot of loyal BB customers who agree with me.

I also got to use the Droid by Motorola yesterday for about an hour.. and let me tell you, this phone is going to be HUGE. The version that we used was a beta software version, and we were told that the latest Android (2.0 and exclusive to VZW) would be on the finished product. The web browser on the Droid is AMAZING! Lightning fast speeds, amazing screen size and resolution.. I was amazed. The only flaw I noticed was that the 5.0 Auto-Focus camera seemed to lag while taking photos. We are advised that this was something to be corrected on the finished OS. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to have full control of their device and freedom to customize whatever they want.. unlimited options!

Storm and Storm2 browser is a joke when loading "text rich" websites (Crackberry...Phone Arena...Techno Buffalo..etc.) That being said, Opera Mini4 on my Storm loaded Techno Buffalo faster than the Droid....while in my basement! I do not trust slider phones and hate to sell them. I'd be surprised if I jump ship and get into the Droid, but I'm excited to find out.
