Yes, the Dare does have instant messaging, as do most of the phones in VZW's current line up.

that's the one thing i'm worried about...with a t9 keyboard you can text without actually looking at the phone fairly easily. it will be harder when you can't feel the keys. Hopefully it will only take some adjustment tho

sorry keypad. im not a fan of qwerty. i think t9 is a much faster and more useful technology for small devices like cell phones

The Dare will definitely be released online on the 26th, but if even if something happens and it isn't, VZW won't take your NE2 away. I've never, ever heard of that happening and I know people who have held onto the NE2 for over a year.

My NE2 came up in Feb 2007 and I still get promos in the mail asking me to use renew my contract and use my NE2 discount. They will not take it away from you.

You can keep your NE2 for as long as you want. There's nothing saying you have to use it right away

on the verizon website it does say that new every two is only good six months after your two years but it seems they dont enforce that. guess they want you to be locked in for another two years more than they want the $100 (or $50)

quick question: is there anyway you can get extra discounts on verizon phones online. I work for a company thats get a substantial discount on phones at verizon. If i order the phone online and set up a new contract, will i be able to use my extra discount on this phone through online or will i just have to wait for it to come into stores?

Question.. I don't care about stuff like getting tv on my phone and even the camera feature, while nice and something I'll use here and there, is cool it is not a huge concern. What is a concern is that I saw on another post that this phone will have very limited ability relative to Outlook. One of the main things I use my current phone for (a Moto Q which I hate) is 1) making/receiving calls and 2) ability download corp email and sync with my outlook calendar. Does anyone know whether or not the Dare will have those pretty basic features? Most of the stuff I've seen mentioned is more eye candy and less hardcore funtionality. Thanks for the insight.

Sounds like you need a blackberry why would even be considering a phone like this if you don't like "eye candy" if I were you I would get a blackberry or palm the dare is not a pda. I also if you would like the mix of both I would wait for the blackberry thunder

I guess the question is how important is mobile tv for you on your phone. It sure would of been smart to include it with the Dare.
It reamins to be seen how good the 3.2 camera is. The Flipshot was supposed to be a great camera phone, but 3.2 megapixels didn't make it worth while. How good is the handwriting recognition feature. Remember Flipshot has a buisness card reader that didn't work well. So where we are with the question that people ask the Bestnew phone is it the LG DARE , LG VU or Iphone and i guess the answer is . It depends what your looking for.
Iphoneand DARE no mobile T.V.
lG Dare 3.2 meg pixel camera. Iphone awsome intephase and rad cool.

No outlook sync out the box, no attachment viewing in emails, no SDK, no chat sms, no html email, and if you are comparing price and plans 8git is Iphone 3G 8GB = $199 + 30 per month data or LG DARE $299 + $99 for 8GB card + at least $30 for headphones + $15 data + $5 mobile email + $9.99 navigation
with the SDK Iphone will only get better because they will be all over the world now and they will be thousands of apps out there for them because it is the easiest platform to develop for. LG DARE won't have that kind of support. so Iphone hands down.

Hey somebody must of told you that your were some sort of application tech and they lied and as far as your addition well shit I guess keep adding more stuff that you didn't add to the iphone hell, lg dare no leather couch + $1800 no ferrari + $220,000 c'mon you sound silly. Dude how can you buy a phone, that you can't even change your own damn battery, send pics, or video and one other thing who told you the price of the phone cause I not sure but I don't think anyone here knows yet, must be your insider tech info again!

if you love your iphone so much why even come to this thread. The dare is not a smartphone like the iphone and people like me don't even need all of those features, but at least get your prices right: I got a 8gb microsd card for $30, $15 also includes nav and internet, and if your paid $30 for some headphones you truly are a moron

yea but the iphone 3g has no video recording or you cant even send a simple picture message. that feature is on almost all verizon phones..the lg dare will be the closest thing to the iphone verizon has out now. again the lg dare isnt supposed to be a smartphone or blackberry...that is why they fall into their own category. if you are a business person this phone is NOT for you.
