Microsoft expects 50% growth in Windows Mobile smartpones sales

advertisment:
The last couple of years were really good for Microsoft, which registered a 50% growth in Windows Mobile software sales in fiscal year 2006/2007 with more than 11 million devices sold worldwide. The current 2007/2008 fiscal year ends in June, but even now, it surpasses the previous figures with the impressive 20 million units. In addition, an increase of 50% or more is expected in the next period.

If Blackberry only had the adaptability, functionality and compatibility of the windows based phones they MIGHT have a chance. Windows based phone are way too convenient NOT to use...and they get better by the day...try flashing a customized ROM onto your blackberry...CHECKMATE!!!!

Yeah, he's probably right. But it's not because consumers actually like WM. The manufacturers have like 4 platform basis and WM is the most widely used on Smart phones and i guess the most customizable.

Ultimately, as long as manufacturers like HTC keep customising the UI, i'm not too fussed about WM.

If truth be told, i'd be happier with standard a s60 interface, that some other software developer built on top of. Nokia's interface has definately got one up on all other developers on the the logicality of the UI, they just aint got the look.

Ps. Does anyone else wish they built a search facility into phones? ie. Apples Spotlight, Windows Vista's live search, or google desktop, so you could search messages, or particular parts of a phone ie. "Theme", "Application", Messages from "Charmaine" .. for example..?
