Leave Sprint with no Early Termination Fee

advertisment:
You want that cool new phone sooooo bad that you can feel it in your hand. You think to yourself how great it would be to flash that handset in front of your friends. But the daydreaming abruptly stops when you remember that you are still locked into your contract with Sprint and you don't want to pay the Early Termination Fee. Well, there is a way out!

By raising their non-government mandated administrative fee on January 1st, from 75 cents to 99 cents, the firm that let's you hear a pin drop is in material breach of contract. This means that if you hold your breathe until you turn blue, you should be able to get Sprint to allow you to bust your contract early without to pay the piper. You need to do this before the end of this year and you might need to be persistent on the phone. To get that cool handset, it might be worth it.

thank u so much for mentioning that, I still have not found a phone that is better than my sprint touch pro... Blackberry Storm, don't think so! Iphone, try again! G1, not a chance!! I know that att has the touch fuze but it still does not compare to the Sprint version. The animations look better on Sprint, we get turn by turn directions included in our data plans, i show all my friends my phone and they always get a little jealous of what im showing them. They Iphones and G1's just dont compare, and for the price i pay, they pay way more than i do, thats when they start feelin like they carrier suck

wont this give unhappy sprint customers an incentive to switch to another carrier?

I would say so...you can't beat breaking your contact with no ETF. I thought this is the second time in the last few years where Sprint has changed somthing that allowed customers to cancel sevice without an EFT. I think the last one had something to do with a change in text messaging fees.

Au contraire to the writer of this article, because Sprint could easily say that they will take the $.24 difference, and credit it for the remainder of your contract, and voila! No material adverse effect, and Sprint is absolved of their contract breach. Every company has extremely high paid legal advisors, and they have a way out of everything, so trust that Sprint has a backup plan for people who want to cancel. That doesn't change the fact that if you get a weak representative, or one who just doesn't care, you could very well get that ETF waiver, just don't count on it.

My HTC Touch Pro is reason enough to stay with Sprint. When HTC decides to add a keyboard to the HTC HD, I'll go with that. I'm in it for the long haul.

HTC Touch Pro is a great phone with the Sprint network, but its not for the everyday common Joe or Mary. Sprint is going to lose a lot of customers. I work in retentions for sprint and its going to be a horrible week.

lmao

if a handset that is on every other network is the only reason your are staying then that is sad. if it is the network that works for you, the call reception is good and the data is good as well, then thats understandable, but the HTC Touch Pro on Sprint is nothing revolutionary or extraordinary....it is actually pretty average on terms of what it offers.

Average?!? Ha! You no doubt have never even read the specs, nevertheless had one in your hand. Tell me, how many other cell phones have a video out so you can hook it to a TV or projector? Hmm? How many did you say? I won't bother going into all the other UNIQUE features. It might shatter that little dream world you live in.

How many other phones have TV out? Well im not exactly sure on the number, but i can tell you for sure its on my i910- not knocking the touch pro its a great device as well, but its probably not a good idea to base your argument on an asssertion like that one, even if you didnt know specifically that the omnia has it, you had to assume that another winmo handset somewhere did. And i have to say that for somebody who wants an all in one media device thats also a good solid smartphone, ill take my omnia over the touch pro- notice how i avoided making statements of pseudo fact that i cant back up, thus avoiding looking silly?

Heck I started with Sprint under the Sprint Spectrum, then got switched over to Sprint PCS. I been a customer for over 12 years and had to call customer service very little in my tenior. I see no reason to leave.

the touch? blah! if you like windows touchscreen only phones, then the omnia is your future. it is to date the ONLY WinMo phone i will reccommend. bleh to HTC, overrated and too expencive, and for reference, they break ALOT.

This from a kid who can't even understand the topic of conversation. We are talking about the Touch PRO which has a slider keyboard. And if you could ever save enough from your paper route to actually own one, you would find they are very sturdy and reliable.

You're mommy is calling...time to do your homework.

the pro is another piece of JUNK. htc phones break way too darn much, they are over priced, and well.. they suck. htc is overhyped as much as apple.

How do you figure they break to easily? I work service and repair for Sprint and have never seen any HTC phones actually broken. Software issues are another thing but all pda's have they're own bugs to be fixed. Any pda breaking to easily would be the palm centro. And I dont see where they're overhyped at all?? What do you even carry for a phone?

What's funny is the people that will use this loophole to get out of a contract to go wherever over $.25 when unless they go to pre pay or T Mobile they will be paying a lot more than that each month. There is no way I'll let a phone dictate how much is spent for service.
