LG's Versa now at a few Verizon stores

We've heard that Verizon stores started to get shipments of the LG Versa over the past few days, but now some unboxing pictures show proof. Even though its not officially released until March 1st, if you've got Versa Fever, it might be worth stopping by a store and trying it out. (Remember to ask nicely)

I was able to play with it at my store. Not saying too much, it's pretty nifty. Not too sure if ppl wanna deal with a "removable keyboard" but the idea is there. Still waiting for the optional gamepad to demo...

In terms of demo-ing to customers... manager must be nice to let employees do that.

We've been selling these early at my location........its a cool little phone but im not too sure about the removeable keypad......its seems like more of a pain

I'm not sure why anyone is concerned about the removable keyboard. I have the Voyager and I use it primarily for Internet access and text messaging. The only reason I didn't get the Dare is because I've got huge thumbs and didn't want to deal with endless text entry on a resistive virtual keyboard. My biggest complaint about Voyager is that when I want to enter something on a web form, I usually need to close the flip, hit the correct field on the touchscreen, then open the flip to type (because I don't like using the nav arrows inside or the virtual keyboard outside, I have to toggle all the time). Having the touchscreen AND the keypad usable simultaneously is a HUGE win for me personally.



I'm not everyone, of course, but the other thing you folks need to realize is that NO ONE is going to be carrying a pocket full of accessories around with them. you're not going to wake up in the morning and say, "I'd like to have the QWERTY until lunch time, then I want the standard cover on the back for the rest of the afternoon." This device is not intended to require users to swap out modules multiple times every day (though it does give that option). Those who like touch-only will simply never install the keyboard or the game pad. Just leave the simple battery door on. The genius here, really, is that LG has been able to effectively replace two styles of handset in there inventory with only one new model of phone. Production costs are going to be comparably low and adoption rates will be great, provided there isn't some huge, glaring defect or other failure of the device to appeal, like the Decoy fiasco.



All they're losing on this Versa is dropping TV from the Voyager and scaling the Camera down to 2.0 from the 3.2 on the Dare. This thing is going to be the phone that everyone who wants a Storm but won't pay the $30 for data will be picking up.

cellstudent, i agree with you completely on the not carrying a pocket full of accessories around. The only thing i see that MIGHT be a slight annoyance is the fact that if you go without the keyboard and suddenly find yourself wanting to use it, you will have to either carry it with you or live without it. I agree with you too on the fact that I cannot use the dare due to the digital keyboard. My one thumb will hit 8 keys at once if im not extra careful. (lol)

So, in the end this unit isnt meant for guys......or guys with big hands/thumbs. I see this being more towards women and highschool students.

Also, not sure if its been posted or not, but pricing goes as follows:

Full Retail: $449.99
1yr agreement: $319.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate
2yr agreement: $249.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate

eh....the phone comes out in less then a week and we have already sold a couple in store. If this unit wasnt to be sold for say another month, i wouldnt dare post the prices on the net. Besides, you can find these prices posted else where on other phone sites too.....


Again, If you are wanting to play around with this unit, head down to your local VZW store and ask a manager (nicely) if you can sneak a peak at it. If youre lucky, they might even sell you one early! :D

I played with it at my store, and usually on touch phones I use the virtual t9 keypad cause the qwerky ones have small letters. Anyways, this one has small letters all around on texting which was a major disappointment. Other then that the 3d graphics interface is amazing, the review says it's a "affortable" version of the Dare, but in a lot of ways it's better.
