Last month, announcing that it had sold 1 million units of the first PRADA phone, LG revealed the company’s plans to launch its successor in the fourth quarter of the year. Today, this is confirmed, and the second Prada phone is announced. Proving earlier rumors right, design-wise it is identical to its predecessor, but features a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard. We think this looks pretty weird on such a luxury handset. LG says it is designed for maximum ease of use and that thanks to its metallic feel, it is a pleasure to type on.

Specification-wise, the second Prada is similar to the first one but adds 3G, Wi-Fi and the camera resolution is 5-megapixel. The press release doesn’t mention if it will support DivX and XviD videos, as the Renoir. However, no matter what its specs are, the key feature of the Prada phone will be its design.

The new LG Prada phone will be available at the introductory price of 600 Euros ($815) before the end of the year, through “major mobile dealerships in Italy, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Netherlands”.

It's only because of the PRADA name that it's so dang expensive. For crying out loud get rid of the brand name! I want a sweet phone not an over priced purse!!
