I think the venus is a real nice. I like the feel of it and the size is just right for what it can do. The camera takes ok shots. The bluetooth stero headset sounded awsome. The touch srceen seemed to have more response than then the voyager?

If you like slider phones this is a good one for the price. I don't think the avg user would be upset after a month or two.

This is a sweet little phone that comes with a surprising amount of features. First, the design of the phone was well thought-out. As a replacement to the LG Chocolate, it keeps with the characteristic feel of the Choc., while adding some improvements to the design. The back-side of the phone has a textured rubber feel to it (not unlike the feel of a basketball) to keep it from slipping out of your hands, or from sliding easily off the surface you place it on. The weight of the phone is such that it feels like you have a well-made device in your hands. I've held and owned phones in the past that have felt like they would break if you weren't careful with them; not so with the Venus. I also like the feel of the number pad when using it; it feels slim in your hand, yet the response of the buttons is such that you are sure you depressed a button, instead of having to rely on looking at the screen to see if you actually hit one. The dual screens are very clear to look at, even with the normal oils that build up on them as a result of putting the phone to your ear, or touching the face with your fingers. Which brings up the neat little protective sleeve LG provides for the phone; it not only provides protection for your phone in your pocket/purse/bag, it acts as a cleaner for the screen. And I must say it does a great job getting rid of the smudges that develop on the screen. The signal quality is good, but not the greatest; due partly (i'm sure) to there not being an external antenna. The voice quality is also very good. I've had no trouble hearing people when it was windy, nor have they had trouble hearing me. I also really like the force-feedback on the lower touch-screen, though I think it has been draining my battery a bit quickly (probably because I've been playing with it non-stop). One gratuitous feature of the touch-screen is that you can adjust the level of force-feedback from high to off, change the type of feedback you get, and even have sounds associated with touching the screen. There are lots of other features that I apprecaite about it, but those are covered in the phone arena review of this device, so I won't repeat them. All in all, it's a great phone for the money, it looks fantastic, it's fun to use, it's fun to show off, and the features it offers work well. I'd recommend getting this phone if you are ready to upgrade.

Very pleased with the overall interface. Iphone its not...but way better than chocalate and works as advertised. As a phone has great sound quality through phone and Jawbone bluetooth headset. Very pleased for the $100 bucks it cost me after new in 2 and rebate.

I've been pretty excited about this phone since I heard about it a month ago, but seriously debated it since I've been a Motorola fan girl for years. But with the decline in quality of Motorola's recent phones, I decided to take a risk and hope for the best. And I was not disappointed!

The LG Venus is a very sharp phone. It's not too bulky, and is actually much slimmer than its Chocolate predecessor. The slide mechanism is smooth and study, and very easy to snap open and shut. As a matter of fact there really is no reason to access the keypad on this phone.

If for some reason you are forced to manually enter a number, or if you are a texting junkie, the keypad is rock solid. The keys are large and well spaced, and you'll never have to question whether or not you've hit the right key. No looking back and forth between screen and keypad. It's just that tight.

The only real disappoint I had with this phone is that it does not utilize a full touch screen. But disappoint fades onces you start to access the phones features. The small screen has a simple yet well designed touch button layout that changes as you navigate through the OS.

When I first turned my phone on, every touch issued noise and vibration. This could appeal to some people, but I turned both the sound and vibration off. I noticed once I tuned them off the OS was more responsive, and I could navigate the menus quicker. And to the fact they only serve to drain the battery, and I see no reason why anyone would leave them on.

The camera on the phone is 2.0MP. You can access it by the camera button on the right side of the phone. It comes with a variety of options including resolution, white balance, photo effects (i.e. sepie, b&w, etc.). This is definitely not something you'd see on an average camera phone. The pictures come out clear, but there is a slight delay between when you press the button, and the picture being taken. So don't expect to use it to snap a quick pic at a party, but if you just want a pretty sunset it'll work.

It also has a video feature, but it is lacking. Everything comes out in a big blur, and it's pretty much useless.

Now to the really good stuff.

This camera boasts the ability to use a microSDHC card up to 8GB. This is where I believe the phone shines. You can choose to store your pics, video, and music on this card. And since you can access the card through a simple adapter, you no longer have to worry about dealing with Verizon's poor attempt at a download service like with past phones. I managed to put most of my mp3 collection on to my card through an adapter, popped it into my Venus, and boom. MUSIC! This feature is a breath of fresh air for Verizon's phone line up.

And speaking of our musical repertoires, the Venus delivers a crisp, clear sound. The speakers themselves aren't much to brag about (though they are loud as HELL at full volume), but a nice set of headphones do a great job. You can either go for the Bluetooth variety or plug in with a 2.5mm jack to rock out with your sock out.

And if call quality is your concern, worry not! This is probably some of the best reception I've ever received on a cell phone. I live in bumpuck nowhere, and my best friend lives in bumpuck nowhere on the other side of the country, and I received a perfectly clear signal without a single drop in the conversation for over an hour.

Overall, I'd say this is probably the best phone I've ever owned to date. So if you're teetering on the edge, I'd say give it a 30 day trial. Worse comes to worse, you can upgrade to a Voyager.

At this point, I'm not completely happy with the Venus. My complaint is with how LG/Verizon are using the memory card. Unless I'm missing something, they are formating the card so that you can only use about 3.6 GB for music storage. If you hook up the phone via the USB cable, Windows explorer only shows 3.6 GB of available space for music. After you upload that much music to the phone, you get a "device full" error. The phone "memory" function still shows 3.6 used and 4 GB available at that time. I tried using a card reader and then Windows explorer DOES show the full capacity of the card. I transfered 7 GB of music to the phone though and then put the card back into the phone only to find that it would not initialize and the phone just reboots when you try to access the music or anything else on the card.

Why they will not let you utilize the available space as you see fit is anybodies guess.

The Venus, is an exceptional phone. It has everything you would want in a phone, style, fantastic face, nice large buttons, sound quality is great, neat new wallpapers, the touch screen is great and works very well. The battery seems to go down pretty quick due to the vibration feed back and sounds. Overall the phone works great and looks great. I would recommend this phone for an upgrade.

My new Venus was all the talk at Thanksgiving Dinner, with both of my sisters now wanting one. My only issues with it is the text messaging. On my old phone (motorola) I could start to type in a word and the rest would appear. When I put my Venus on 'word' mode I don't even get the letter I want (press 1 for w and I get a x). Not sure if this is a common problem or just my phone.

I am hoping to find a holster/carry that protects the font of the screen. I like the pouch it comes with, but it is a pain in the butt to grab out of my bag and pull off the pouch and answer it in time.

The touch screen is awesome! And so far the battery is lasting for me (1 week and 2 bars left). I do turn it off every night.

I wouldn't have paid $199 for it. But I got $100 off with my new every two.

nice phone, hopefully i never get lost in the woods for more than a day cuz the battery sucks, and the only other thing bad is when im talkin on it i can barely hear the person unless its on speaker, other than that its not too bad

Update to memory issue.

Can't see much bad about the style or features of this phone but it does have some issues which are enough for me to return it soon if some fixes don't come out. The major thing is the MicroSD card functionality. Regardless of the size card you have in it, when you connect the phone to your computer to sync your music, only half the capacity of the card is recognized. For example, I have an 8 GB card in my Venus. The "memory" function under tools and settings shows it to be an 8 GB card. If I put the card in a card reader, Windows shows it to be an 8 GB card. If I connect the phone to my computer using the supplied USB cable, it is only recognized as a 4 GB card. After many talks with Verizon customer service only to have them tell me over and over that I am the only one who has reported the problem and that I must have a bad phone or card, I finally exchanged both and the new one is the same way. In spite of Verizon's claim that I'm the only one, I have been contacted by many others who have the same problem. Two gig cards, only recognize 1 gig in sync mode...4 gig cards recognize 2 gigs...etc. Verizon still has not acknowledged a problem. I did FINALLY get this response from LG though.

"There is currently a known issue with the 8gb memory in the LG Venus, as well as the Voyager, when downloading music the phone will only recognize half of the memory card size, we are currently working hard to resolve this issue, please be patient with us. "
