31. AMAZING!

Well, for my opinion, this is and AWESOME phone.
I only got it three days ago, and I absalutly LOVE it.
The touch screen is really easy to work, and the screen is really clear.
The slider works really good; and everything is working really well.
I love texting on this phone, and its really easy, because the buttons are quite big.
And good thing I have unlimited, or I would go over. (:
One thing that I do have problems with, however, is putting music on this phone.
My VCast isnt working, and I havent tried doing it from my computer.
My sister's friend has this phone, and for some odd reason, she hates it.
I dont know whats wrong with her!
Anyway, if you like taking advise from a thirteen year old,
I honestly think you should get this phone.
I think youll like it as much as I do! :D

32. Great Phone

So far, so good. Great, vibrant screen, adequate camera, touch sensitivity and intuitive screens work perfectly. Nicely customizable. I don't experience a "lag", the battery is 1-3 days depending on usage; perfect as a phone and music device. I got used to word for texting (coming from an enV which definitely spoiled me for texting) it's easy now; call clarity and reception are much better than the enV. This is a keeper.

I personally like the phone alot. I think it works very well. althought it freezes up sometimes, and has now begun to shut off during a text message. i do not know what that is about, hopefully it will stop, or i will have to try to replace the battery. The phone is very easy to get used to, and the camera works better than most phone cameras.

36. Lg Venus

i got the venus last week and so far am pretty impressed by it. seeing as how it is the first of its kind it dosent always do what u want. for example if i touch a button on the touch screen it gives me vibration feedback and it shows i touched it but it dosent respond. i heard if u take the vibration off it works better. so well see about that. camera is pretty good. although i wish it didnt have to rotate to take pictures. speaker isnt too loud or too quite. call quality is perfect. features are really good. and the menu is a step up! the music player is pretty good although it is a little slow when changing the song. video sucks. it just looks like blur. over all i like the venus a lot and is a really good phone. i hope they fix delays and such with the next one.

37. LG Venus - great phone!

25 Dec 2007 by Nick

I just received the LG Venus as a gift, and I am already used to the touch screen. Also, with the speaker on the back, you really cannot tell much of a difference and you do not have to sit it down screen first. With the camera though, it has a good 2.0 mega-pixel one, but it does not have a flash, which is a tad bit odd. Other than that one thing, the phone is great for everyone.

38. Venus after 2 weeks

5 Dec 2007 by scottp

I came from several years of flip-phone usage but adjusted quickly to the Venus' slide-out keypad, though I use it rarely as I am using voice commands and call history a lot. The voice command/recognition is really terrific thus far and doesn't require a verbal confirmation from the user as older versions of the software did. And, I've never had a miscue.

As far as the blue color on the sides: You need to be in a room with very bright and diffused light to see that it's blue. It looks black most of the time so I don't see the blue/black palette issue mentioned in the reviews. I like that I can customize my "short-cuts" icons/functions and layout. That's great.

My only complaints right now are that the lowest volume setting for the ringer is pretty darn loud and the speaker-phone distorts at higher volumes.

Also, it's annoying that the phone goes into "locked" mode so quickly, requiring a side button press to unlock. For instance, when I speed-dial my voice mail (w/auto password) with speaker-phone on it locks by the time the messages play and oddly mutes the sound in both speaker-phone and internal speaker.

The camera: nearly impossible to view images in daylight; the screen is just far too reflective. An anti-glare coating should be on these new phones: no excuse for that. Yes, the faux-leather feels cheap and I expect it to wear quickly. We'll see.

An earlier commenter mentioned an adjustment for the touch sensitivity? I don't see that in the docs or functions: only touch vibration feedback levels.

Personally, I prefer a physical keypad to the on-screen type (voyager, i-phone). With these others I really have to concentrate as there is no "feel" to the keys.

As far as the text messaging the LG's "word" is similar to moto's "itap" the main difference is that it doesn't give you the option, after it predicts the word your typing, to press up on the d. pad to auto fill the word. Think of the venus' text function as a dictionary, just type the word on the keypad the way it's spelled, and it should predict it. If its an obscure word then you first have to change the setting to ABC mode then type the word then press the space key, and the phone will remember the word for next time. Hope this helps.

40. Nice! Great Balance of Function & Style

1 Dec 2007 by Chris

88%8.8out of 10

I really like my Venus! I have been a Moto fan for years and years. Avoiding an LG like you would not believe. Finally tired of making mod's to my phone and tweaking the settings and wanted something, without the red bars that had UI options. Enter the Venus, it is a wonderful balance of style and function,... no more red bars!! The flash interface is really nice.

Yeah, there's the "lag" in response time that everyone chats about. But almost everything has a workaround. Sound quality and reception actually improve when the phone is slid open and not operating in the closed position. I also found that this phone operates much faster if I shut it off on a weekly basis and charge it over night. For some reason, cycling this phone seems to enhance it's responsiveness.

I've also noticed that when I filled the internal phone memory with songs, the response time and "bugginess" of the interface was more evident. Keeping all of my tunes on the 4gig microsd card free's up the internal memory and improves the phones performance.

I like the size and weight of this phone. It's perfect for sliding into your jeans pocket without fuss. The Voyager is a great phone, but just too bulky,.. you can't put it in your pocket,... really have to have a holster.

Ask for the screen protectors and body glove holster when you get it,... they are both awesome accessories to enhance the use of this phione.

Reception is really good. This is what surprised me about the phone the most. Call quality was great and it's ability to carry a signial even in fringe areas (like my own home,... grrrr) is a necessity for my phones and this one pulls through!!
