LG Venus Review
The Venus by LG is Verizon Wireless’s latest music phone and is the successor to the Chocolate lineup. It is a slider, and moves beyond the heat sensitive buttons of 8500 series by adding a pressure-sensitive dynamic LCD display. The camera has been upgraded to 2.0 megapixels, but otherwise the features remain similar to the Chocolates. The Venus has a QVGA display, EV-DO data, microSD expansion and a heavy focus on music.

Ok so i work at a premiere agent for verizonwireless. This phone is great. It has everything you could imagine. Im talkin 2.0mp camera. MicroSD slot. Mp3 player(which dont sound half bad). A descent sized screen. The list goes on. My question is... has anyone had the chance to really sit down and use this phone and its features? It is a pain in the rear. The touch navigation keys are rediculous. You have to be right on for it to actually hit the key your trying to hit. Not to mention the display feels like its going to collapse into the phone. I am a huge fan of Lg becuase i see so few of them have problems compared to the others. If you like sliders, are very gentle on phones, and can handle the picky touch screen. Then this phone is great for you.

Well, for my opinion, this is and AWESOME phone.
I only got it three days ago, and I absalutly LOVE it.
The touch screen is really easy to work, and the screen is really clear.
The slider works really good; and everything is working really well.
I love texting on this phone, and its really easy, because the buttons are quite big.
And good thing I have unlimited, or I would go over. (:
One thing that I do have problems with, however, is putting music on this phone.
My VCast isnt working, and I havent tried doing it from my computer.
My sister's friend has this phone, and for some odd reason, she hates it.
I dont know whats wrong with her!
Anyway, if you like taking advise from a thirteen year old,
I honestly think you should get this phone.
I think youll like it as much as I do! :D

14. Great Phone

So far, so good. Great, vibrant screen, adequate camera, touch sensitivity and intuitive screens work perfectly. Nicely customizable. I don't experience a "lag", the battery is 1-3 days depending on usage; perfect as a phone and music device. I got used to word for texting (coming from an enV which definitely spoiled me for texting) it's easy now; call clarity and reception are much better than the enV. This is a keeper.

I personally like the phone alot. I think it works very well. althought it freezes up sometimes, and has now begun to shut off during a text message. i do not know what that is about, hopefully it will stop, or i will have to try to replace the battery. The phone is very easy to get used to, and the camera works better than most phone cameras.

i got the venus last week and so far am pretty impressed by it. seeing as how it is the first of its kind it dosent always do what u want. for example if i touch a button on the touch screen it gives me vibration feedback and it shows i touched it but it dosent respond. i heard if u take the vibration off it works better. so well see about that. camera is pretty good. although i wish it didnt have to rotate to take pictures. speaker isnt too loud or too quite. call quality is perfect. features are really good. and the menu is a step up! the music player is pretty good although it is a little slow when changing the song. video sucks. it just looks like blur. over all i like the venus a lot and is a really good phone. i hope they fix delays and such with the next one.

19. LG Venus - great phone!

I just received the LG Venus as a gift, and I am already used to the touch screen. Also, with the speaker on the back, you really cannot tell much of a difference and you do not have to sit it down screen first. With the camera though, it has a good 2.0 mega-pixel one, but it does not have a flash, which is a tad bit odd. Other than that one thing, the phone is great for everyone.

20. Venus after 2 weeks

I came from several years of flip-phone usage but adjusted quickly to the Venus' slide-out keypad, though I use it rarely as I am using voice commands and call history a lot. The voice command/recognition is really terrific thus far and doesn't require a verbal confirmation from the user as older versions of the software did. And, I've never had a miscue.
As far as the blue color on the sides: You need to be in a room with very bright and diffused light to see that it's blue. It looks black most of the time so I don't see the blue/black palette issue mentioned in the reviews. I like that I can customize my "short-cuts" icons/functions and layout. That's great.
My only complaints right now are that the lowest volume setting for the ringer is pretty darn loud and the speaker-phone distorts at higher volumes.
Also, it's annoying that the phone goes into "locked" mode so quickly, requiring a side button press to unlock. For instance, when I speed-dial my voice mail (w/auto password) with speaker-phone on it locks by the time the messages play and oddly mutes the sound in both speaker-phone and internal speaker.
The camera: nearly impossible to view images in daylight; the screen is just far too reflective. An anti-glare coating should be on these new phones: no excuse for that. Yes, the faux-leather feels cheap and I expect it to wear quickly. We'll see.
An earlier commenter mentioned an adjustment for the touch sensitivity? I don't see that in the docs or functions: only touch vibration feedback levels.
Personally, I prefer a physical keypad to the on-screen type (voyager, i-phone). With these others I really have to concentrate as there is no "feel" to the keys.
