LG Dare Review

LG has been a leader in the touchscreen non-smart phone market since 2007 with their introduction of the PRADA GSM model in Europe. Since then, they have developed and released additional touchscreen phones, such as the Voyager, Glimmer, Vu, and Viewty; each with their own unique features. The newest device to be released is the Dare, which is available through Verizon Wireless...

201. the dare

i love the design of the dare, so light and thin, not bulky like the voyager. the virtual QWERTY keyboard is very easy to get used to. The promotional price of $199.99 with the rebate is a great price, but $409 retail price? c'mon, thats a rip off, you mind as well get the iPhone if your gonna pay that much. But besides the price, this is probably the best verizon phone yet.

202. DEGWEB

Only have had the Dare 3 days, but so far it's great. I like the solid feel and really enjoy the drag and drop option. Did however have problems with my 2gb sd. Having upgraded from the vx8300 I already had the 2gb external sd. LG indicated the vx8300 phone could only store 1gb, but the dare boasts 8gb. When I put the SD in the Dare, I still only saw 1GB no matter how many times I formatted it. I finally resorted to searching the web and found the answer. The dare doesn't format correctly. I put the mini sd back into the sd adapter, put it in my camera and formatted it there. Voila, the sd now holds 2GB's of data. Pretty strange. Not sure if a new SD would be the same, but hopefully not.

203. Phone snob- very pleased

6 Jul 2008 by Leslie

It is about time that I am in LOVE with a phone! I worked in the wireless industry for 6 years and have never used a phone that satisfied my love for features like this one!
The touch screen made me nervous, but it is surprisingly sensitive.
The music player is great quality.
I cannot believe the battery! I can't put it down and it still lasts forvever.
I have never bought a phone for its camera, so I wasn't disappointed by the quality of it. It has a much better camera than most phones, but I doubt I will use the feature much.
All in all- best phone in the US right now.

204. Excellent Phone!

6 Jul 2008 by David M.

I bought this phone 4 days ago and I love it! I replaced a very old LG VX7000 which is about 4-5 years old. The design and features of this phone are great. Many people are comparing this phone with iPhone. I have never used an iPhone so I can not compare it with that. Compared with the touch screen phones Verizon offers, there is no comparison! Spend the extra $50 to get this one!

I was very surprised by how well I am actually able to type on the number pad and virtual keyboard. As a 6'2" man, I do not have the smallest hands so I was a little worried I would not be very accurate while typing. So far with a little patience I am doing pretty well. I am still faster using the virtual 9 key to text but I think that will change when I get used to the keyboard.

The only small disappointment that I have seen thus far is the camera. I guess I had a false hope that since it had a 3.1 MP camera that it would compare with a digital camera. I have tried a few times and still have yet to master this feature. Not that it is hard, but it still has that "camera phone" look. The flash is the brightest little light I have ever seen.

Verizon also gave me a 1 month free trial of their V Cast network. I am amazed by the speed of the videos. I was able to watch full episodes of possibly the best show ever, "The Office!" And steaming Youtube videos are pretty good quality too.

Overall I am completely happy to have replaced my old phone with this one.

Great phone, but the screen touch is not as sensitive as the ipod touch. Will be great with a wifi capability and a PDA funtionality.

206. I swear, it's the Dare #1

I got my Dare yesterday, and I truly love all the features that LG built into the Dare. I've been a Verizon customer since 1993. Over the last 15 years I've had just about every make and brand of cell phones offered for sale by Verizon. Dare so far beats them all. So my fellow LG Dare users, I proclaim this...."Muhammad Ali may be the greatest, but the LG Dare is the latest."

207. A Big 10

4 Jul 2008 by Wolfgang Miller

This phone is absolutely perfect and has everything jammed packed into it for everything that I want, need, and for fun. The camera is amazing for the size of the phone and not many phones have a 3.2 megapixel camera. But that doesn't mean much, still takes great photos. Not top notch, but great for a phone. The touch screen is very responsive, and is nearly perfect. The menu layout is great, may seem iPhoneish. But this is Verizon not AT&T. The music player is my favourite out of all, being able to multitask and listen to music is awesome. 10 out of 10 from me, thats all I got.

209. I Love This Phone!

4 Jul 2008 by Ian

I traded in my V3 Razr for a Voyager a week ago. I loved what the Voyager had to offer and figured I'd be set for a while. Then came the Dare. As soon as the stores got it, I was so there to get it. I traded in my Voyager within my 30 day trial. While I really liked the Voyager, the Dare truly blows it away! I like every feature of this phone. Signal strength has been great and the customizations are pretty cool. The only thing I don't like is that when browsing, it's hard to enter text. I have big hands but some of those boxes are REALLY small. (Of course I didn't but it for browsing, so it's not going to be a major bother, just a minor annoyance.) Other than that, this is a truly fantastic phone that will hopefully perform well for a long time.

One more thing... When trading in your new phone for a newer phone, Verizon charges you a $20 restock fee. They don't tell you until you trade it in. (They expect you to read the fine print.) That's pretty lame considering how they push way overpriced accessories on you. My salesperson knocked $10 off accessories I'll never use. The ones I will use are much cheaper elsewhere.

Both my husband and I love this phone. I was a little leary about him liking the touch screen part, but in 2 days he has adapted VERY well. This phone is by far the greatest. My mpther had the Voyager and she returned it because it was not that great. The both of us had the enV. This is a great improvement; there is no way we would ever go back.
