You know, I don't understand why people are talking about the iPhone in this forum. If you haven't noticed, this is LG-Dare-Review-review-comments....html NOT iPhone. I don't care about the iPhone, it's not important to me, millions feel the same way. I am trying to get information on the LG DARE. I don't go to apple.com and talk about Sony or Samsung. I had a question about email applications for the Dare, please don't respond that I need a freakin' iphone. Thank you.

Now, does anyone know if there are free applications that provide e-mail support so that I don't have to pay 5/mo or use html on the Dare?

no, you have to pay the $5 or go dirtectly to your e-mail via the browser if you don't want to pay

WARNING: I returned by Dare...

Also the Dare does not have wi-fi which is way faster than 3G or EV-DO Rev. 1... I'm disappointed that the Dare as terrible e-mail support.... Also the web browser is Full HTML but it's not as good as the iphone with multi-touch.... I returned my Dare and waited in line for an iphone.... It's the best cell phone I have ever used!

good for you, that is what the Iphone is supposed to be used for, email. What a concept that email works better on a pda. The dare is a media device. If you want a great camera with editing software and mp3 player and video recorder then choose the dare, if you want a great email client get a pda or Iphone. Why people keep comparing a touch screen media device to the iphone is beyond me. The dare can do email, you can log in to your email throught the web browser at not additonal cost with vcast or add the $5 per month for mobile email, which still makes you log in each time to check it. If you want to be able to sync email, calendar and contacts and view them as soon as you get them then you want wireless sync which is $20 per month. Or if your looking to sync corporate email then you want remosync which is only $10 per month.

$5, $10, $20 a month!!!! All these things add you know over your 2 year contract..

I find the touch screen on the iphone better than the Dare. On the iphone you can flick through menus faster and more fluid unlike in the Dare you have to PUSH and drag and it's slow when you have a lot of contacts or looking at a long web page....

The MP3 player on the iphone beats the dare hands down.... No comparison

The browser is also better than the Dare too with multi touch

Don't get the Dare.... Get an iphone!!!

wanna play the nickels and dimes game? if you take the I phone with the basic text package and the required internet plan, you are paying $5 more per month than if you took the Dare with the VZW Premium plan, which gives you UNLIMITED text, and VZ navigator in addition to everything it matches ATT on

MP3 player only beats the dare if you're an I-pod junkie

DARE is the best phone that I have ever used including iphone! I don't care about iphone at all. It has a long list of shortcomings that DARE have addressed :-)

This is the list of features that IPHONE does not HAVE!!!

-No stereo bluetooth support
-keyboard is useless (no landscape view no T9)
-no Copy and Paste
-wost camera ever witnessed on a modern cell phone
-outrageous data plans
-shatter-prone glass screen
-metal attracting dings
-AT&T coverage sucks
-NO MMS!!!
= POS ***

DARE is by far the best phone right now and VERIZON is 10 times better than AT&T in terms of coverage and CS! You have to be totally blind to get iphone! I love my DARE and probably will have it for 2 years no problem. I can't be any happier after that sorry iphone with ATT!

No.... I am not an Apple Fanboy.... As a consumer I search for the best products out there.... I have tested the Dare and the iphone and I find the iphone is superior to the Dare... Though the iphone might not have MMS, Video Capture, or A2DP Bluetooth I find that the browser and multimedia features better than the Dare... Also the quality of the iphone is much better than the Dare... I find the UI better and just the small details that stand out... Like in the Dare, scrolling isn't as good as the iphone where you can just flick with your fingers... In the Dare you have to touch and drag.... The App Store brings HUGE possibilities to the iphone... On the Dare you are kinda locked up because you can't install 3rd party apps like Opera Mobile (the built in browser SUCKS scrolling is slow and without multi touch it's hard to move around)... Other small details include Visual Voice Mail and better e-mail support which the Dare lacks... Though the Dare is not a smartphone I don't expect it to have Enterprise support but the e-mail in the Dare does not support HTML e-mail which is a big thumbs down for me... As a consumer I strive to find the best phone for me... Though the iphone does not have everything I want in a phone (MMS, Copy/Paste, Flash, Video Capture) it comes close... Closer than the Dare or another phone...

Has anybody dropped or hit their Dare on anything? The guy in the apple store banged around and iphone with no problems. I was wondering if the Dare is pretty durable too.

I bought the new Dare after reading everyones comments. I was looking for something sleek and full of cool features. I loved it from the start. Yes, it took the first day to figure out the correct touch for scrolling,etc.. and YES, you can change the vibrate tone, level and
sound as well as eliminate it altogether. I didn't see a need to rearrange the 9 icons on the Main Menu, but on the Shortcut Menu I
discovered there are another 44 icons behind it to replace any you feel you won't need. You just press SET on the Shortcut Menu, then
press the Icon you would like to replace. Up comes a long list of other options to replace them; from games to EZ tip calculator, drawing
pad,to camera or video, etc.. Once replaced you can drag them to the front screen. I dragged the camera icon so it immediatly goes
straight to taking photos when touched. Also put the TXT msg icon there and the EZ tip Calc. The Txt icon on the desktop immediatly
opens up to write a text message as opposed to hitting the mail envelope on the front screen which goes first to recieved mail. Made
immediate sense to me. I have also gone to phonezoo.com and found many free ringtones to add to the phone for fun, and photos
for wallpaper or caller ID purposes. All free. Another discrepancy to clear up is the Favorites on the Dare takes up to 9 of your
favorite people. Not 6 as indicated earlier. The only item I don't see a need for other than to impress my youngest kid is the drawing pad.
Seems rather silly to me. The camera is amazing and I'm still learning all it can do. Amazingly clear and high definition for sure. This
phone was a fantastic choice for me....and my grown children have phone envy now.

I would like to add...I already own an Ipod Touch with all the amazing widgets I've downloaded, only to find out they only work in a
wi-fi environment. Totally Useless in my car where I thought I'd possibly use those applications. I've returned to only using it for my music.
I decided not to upgrade to an IPhone since AT&T has terrible reception here and my family members all being diehard Blackberry
users discouraged me from getting the IPhone. They all approved the Dare and are quite impressed with it. The Dare fits in the
same sleek case the Blackberry Curve fits in by the way. Personally, it makes sense to me to keep my music files seperate from my phone
to avoid battery drain and one less thing to have stolen. If someone swipes your phone it's just a phone and usually insured. Your Ipod is more valuable in the end. I hope this helps the next person make their decision what new phone to upgrade to. Choose the Dare!! Love it.

Well for me, I think the LG Dare is one of the best phone I have ever heard of. Yes, its true that I myself do not own one of them myself, but I am getting the phone and did a lot of research on it. That is what I usely do when getting a phone.Who ever thinks this phone is a bad phone or isn't better than the apple iphone has every right to think that, but for me, the facts show that the LG Dare is the better phone. The phone is great for the ages 13- adult. I say that because its nice slim and shall I say " cute ". And it has a great camrara. It is said to have the best one out of all camrara phones. The Dare also has Mobile IM. Which means you can go on " aim " or check your mail and things like that. That feature is great for teens. All top of that, the phone can be personialized for anyone who don't like it from the start. Over all, the phone is great and I would recremend it to anyone.

Hi, I got the phone on Friday - YES, the phone is awesome. You can connect the phone to your PC via the power cable that comes with the phone. I've transferred about 655 songs to it - the music player works great. The camera is great. The qwerty keyboard is amazing. I have pretty small fingers so I don't have any issues with it. I make one mistake for ever 30 letter i type, so no big deal. The bluetooth is great. I have the premium plan. The mobile email program does push your msn email. I've tried this myself. It will notify you of a new email within 30 seconds of somebody sending it to you. The IM works nice, so does VZ Navigator. The broweser is good, it's not great but it works. It does get a little frustrating at times but I'm in front of a pc all day, so I don't the phone's browser often. V Cast Video is awesome - I love the news and weather. I even get local news clips. I haven't upgraded in 3 years and 10 months so I went from an old LG VX7000 to the Dare - I'm currently under phone shock. I do reccomend you pick up the verizon screen protectors. Very easy to put on and work like a charm. YOu get 3 for 9.99. By the way - these do not effect the touch screen sensitivity in ANY WAY.
