Kyocera takes over Sanyo’s mobile phone business

The two companies have reached an agreement, which will go into effect on April 1, 2008. Kyocera has paid $375 million for Sanyo’s mobile phone division agreeing not to fire any of the 2000 employees already working there. The company will continue to sell headsets of both brands and it sees the merger as a way to offer a broader lineup of mobile phones and data devices.
