High frequency sound plaguing the iPhone 3G S? This article contains unofficial information.

advertisment:
Can you hear me? Can you hear me now? Well maybe not quite yet, but reports are saying that there is a high frequency sound that is plaguing the new iPhone 3G S. You might be able to hear it, but we're sure your dog might have a better chance. For those that are affected, it occurs whenever a system sound plays – like the one you hear after unlocking your phone. The emitted sound is at around 15KHz; so some may be able to hear it. It's looking more like a software issue than anything else seeing that it does not happen when placing the phone on vibrate. No word yet from Apple, but it looks like there are owners out there that have the issue. So we'll just have to wait and sit back until a fix comes into light from Apple.

So how many people constitute "owners"????

Is it really a legitimate amount?

I hate how little things get blown out of proportion or that people feel the need to make an actual new post about it... Especially when its 4 or 5 people out of oh..say... MILLIONS. Chances are those people are just completly out of their mind and just want a reason to get a new device.... lol

but oh well... things like that could be informational to some....

This is why it's best to get a device after the bugs have been worked out. It's silly to stand in line on the first day.

i TOTALLY AGREE! what idiots would stand in line for hours is beyond me. especially since it's not that major of an upgrade..i could see if it was the premiere of the iphone 3g which was a great upgrade from the first. but i wouldn't go all out crazy to get this if i already had an iphone 3g... i hate apple products btw. microsoft/blackberry/verizon FTW.

I for some reason am not very excited about the 3G S either (I currently have an iPhone 3G). But I do think that going from a 3G to 3G S is a bigger upgrade than going from the iPhone to the iPhone 3G. The main difference between the iPhone and the iPhone 3G was the connectivity/data speeds and also the change of design. Not only does the 3G S have faster speed than the 3G, but it also has a way better camera and the video quality is the best Ive eve seen in a phone. Also the speed is really improved. For example, even though I was on wifi, I could see the improved speed (I was in the AT&T store to buy a case but was messing with the display model while I was there). When I am scrolling the list of videos, the little icons on the right side were loading faster than I was scrolling. I didn't test the compass/maps because I just forgot to and I didn't check the voice control because I dont really care about that. But I think the biggest turn-off to everyone (and the reason why everyone is saying it is still the same thing) is because it looks exactly the same. That's probably the reason why I don't really like the 3G S, but I still think it's a bigger upgrade

i think a 100 dollar increase is a bit much in terms of a 16 gb vs a 32 gb..if apple just installed a memory card slot people could have as much space as they want :-)

Only if Verizon did't f**k up and pass on the iPhone you would have the cellular market cornered.

I think a $100 is pretty generous for 16 extra gigabytes of memory,

Even if it's happening to just 9 or 10 people, it should be looked at as an issue.

LTE w/MIFI FTW

if it was software then wouldn't the ipod touch owners hear it as well because i updated mine the day 3.0 came out and there is no high frequency sound coming from mine.

Can someone tell me why it took until the 3rd Gen iPhone to get Video?

well because they are a business, they know people will go out there and buy the same device just because it has an additional feature, thus making twice if not 3x's the money.

think about it, apples get more money for holding out on features and putting it into a newer version so people go crazy and start jumping up and down " oh my god the new iphone has video and oh it has a compass which i wil never use"

and 2nd apple gets to renew all of there contracts...
its a win win for apple and att.

I agree. That's why I hope the pre, storm 2, and other upcoming phones do really well so I can expect a great iPhone model next year when I upgrade. But if all thenother phones fail to do well, then Apple will just relax like it always does.

Can someone tell me why it took the iphone for Verizon to stop crippling their devices? (Verizon still strips memory but at least we get more features that other carriers get for the same phone) Competition is great for the consumer!

Yeah I agree. I remember when Bluetooth file transfers use to be the thing to do. I would have a cool ringtone or something and my friends would ask if I had Bluetooth to send it. I said yes but I couldn't send it to them. They thought I was being stingy. It was sad because I had a good phone from Verizon and a lot of them had Razrs and some other crappy phone on other carriers. And freaking $2.99 for a 20 second ringtone on Verizon? What the heck is that!! With iPhone you get the full entire song and a ringtone for $1.99. That's still a rip-off to me though but a heck of a lot bettrer than the previous offer. I don't think AT&T is a whole better if better at all, but I don't know since Apple and At&t are almost seperate. Which I like a whole lot better than Verizon being in almost total control of everything. But that's just my experience. Some may have opposite experiences. I think a got a little off topic, but anyways I feel that no matter how much you hate the iPhone, it's done a lot of great things for the mobile industry.

but hey at least they are giving early upgrades to those people who are suppose to get upgrades july, august and september , which i think is a blow to its other customers who have different phones and would like to upgrade to something else.
