nothing changes as far as features or cost go. there is not a required data package or anything btu all the phones come with a free month trial of teh vcast and vz navigator as of right now
you must, however, be on the new nationwide calling plans. so if you have an ancient plan then u will be forced to change... :(

In re: the change to the nationwide plans. I bought a Dare from a fast talking salesman vzw rep, and he assured me over and over I wouldn't have to change my plan. He said that the total cost I would have for surfing the net and checking my eBay auctions would be $15.00 extra per month.
About a month ago I inquired at the vzw store and they said I would have to change to a nationwide plan to use the Voyager.
Could you comment on EXACTLY why this is required. Is is Hardware, software, just a policy to make us cough up more $ each month. Their pitch was I'd get more minutes, but heck I only use 150-200 mins/month as it is.
Do I absolutely positively have to have a nationwide plan to use the dare? What is it about the phone that requires it?
If I have to change plans, then my net cost will be not $15 but $25 as the new plan adds $10 to the monthly fee.
Thanks for anyone shedding light on this.

currently, the only phones that REQUIRE the change to the nationwide plans are the voyager, glyde, and dare. the reason as far as i know is because these are the only phones that offer a full html browser (disregarding the smartphones). so that would be my idea as to what in particular requires the change for activation. now why it needs to change? no idea. more data requirements maybe for teh full html vs. the mobile web? at this point im just thinking outloud.

Do you mean you have a family plan? If so the thing is that its not more expensive even if it says its $10 more... The thing is that the new Family Plans include the second line with the price the old ones dont so you may think its more expensive when in reality its the same price.

we just activated the dare here at vzw for the strore demos and so far they are the sickest(vzw) phones i have ever played with you tube is super fast. the web in general is blazing with the rev a
Unless the Voyager has an update or the review of this phone is bad (for some reason) i'm getting it. Though a lack of physical keys will be missed. Though I wonder how you could do some of Verizon's games... But the accelerometer has a LOT of potential for being a super useful feature. though I did hear of the Voyager (Refresh) in the Visual Voicemail rollout for VZW.

i heard that the refresh would just be a voyager in a different color
I have a text and video review up on my website. It is all too long to post here. I wanted to show more sub-menus for the people who do not have their Dare yet and are interested.

The youtube video is being processed and should be viewable in just a few minutes.
I recently ordered the dare on friday and I was just wondering for the people that already have it is the touch screen like the voyager[squishy and pressure sensed], like the glyde[heat sensed but still plastic], or like the iphone[heat sensed and glass]
It's amazing how defensive all of you I-phone users get when you see this phone. When will you realize a lot of people do not like or want to use apple products, yes that's including your precious I-phone. So go eat your apple and stop trying to force Jobbs down everyones throat.

I'm in Verizon and I kind of agree with the apple users. The same thing happened with the Voyager last year when everyone sadi that it was going to kill the iphone. Everyone is doing the same thing with the Dare now. The dare does have some cool features, but overall the iphone is kind of better. One of the reasons is that its customizeable, you can put any apps you want. i always tried hacking into my voyager for games and apps, but witht eh iphone (especially with the apple store) you can do that.
And I'm use to the UI on my Voyager, but that doesn't mean that doesn't mean its superior. Same with texting. I hardly make any mistakes but texting full qwerty on the voyager is still annoying. I kind of hate it when people say that *you have to adjust to the touch screen.* But I don't want to adjust, I want a touch screen thats easy to use. I don't want one that I have to *learn* how to use.
And I'm so sure that if the iphone was on Verizon, no one would even consider the Dare. So many people say that they like the iphone but don't want to move to sucky AT&T. If the iphone was on Verizon before the Voyager, I probably wouldn't have looked twice at the Voyager.
