HTC Opal does low-end luxury

The HTC Opal (probably a code name) is slated to be a low-end successor to the Touch.  The form-factor remains similar, as opposed to the Touch Diamond which has a very different look.  The device lacks 3G with only quad-band EDGE, but does include Wi-Fi.  The processer is a paltary 200MHz
advertisment:
, like the original run of the GSM Touch, but the Opal at least has 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM.  Other features remain similar, such as a 2.8" touchscreen, microSD expansion and a 2 megapixel camera, though it has been upgraded to autofocus.  No word on pricing or release date just yet.

i don't believe it... HTC starts going this way... a wrong way - cloning their own phones.

there is a phone like this, Touch with 128/256 (Elfin).
there is no need making a similar one. it's just Elfin in new look. a lifting one.

a clone.

baaaad HTC! shame!

I prefer the Touch look vs. Diamond. Sure wish they'd put Wi-Fi on Sprint's CDMA version of Touch; what's up with that?

My Sprint rep says Sprint's EVDO is so fast it doesn't need Wi-Fi. However, several markets don't have EVDO(I live in southern Ohio,no EVDO for 40 miles from where I live),but Sprint doesn't seem to care about them.

I like this look for the touch rather than the Touch Diamond.

It's more unique and not as flashy, unfortunately it's not as classy though.

This phone will probably be an entry level phone for T-mobile.
