Hands-on with the HTC Athena (X7500)

The guys over at Mobile-Review have information about the device specifications. Earlier rumors indicated 3.5” QVGA display and 400MHz Samsung processor. In reality, this WM 5 PPC device has 5” VGA (640x480 pixels) display (and TV-out), 8-10GB of Hard Disc memory and 624MHz Intel Bulverde processor. It is not tri-band GSM plus UMTS for Europe as earlier it was reported, but will be available in two quad-band GSM versions – the one is for the States supporting UMTS 850/1900, while the other is for Europe with UMTS 2100. Both support high-speed HSDPA. Of course, Bluetooth v2.0 and WiFi (802.11b/g/e) are supported. The Athena also has miniUSB and 3.5mm stereo audio jack with mic. The 2100mAh Li-Pol battery should last for up to: 6 hours of talk time; 300+ hours of standby; 8 hours of WMV video playback.

The dimensions of the Athena X7500 are 5.24x3.8x0.78 inches (133x97x20 mm) at less than 12.3 oz (350gr.). The expected price in the US at the beginning is $1500-2000.
