Glyde Refresh is said to fix your touchscreen problems This article contains unofficial information.

advertisment:
Remember the Samsung Glyde that came out almost a year ago? Most people, including us, had issues with the capacitive touchscreen. Some people tried to resolve the issue themselves, and the device was even pulled from the Verizon shelves for a few weeks last November. Now it appears there is a Refresh version of the Glyde that uses a resistive pressure sensitive touchscreen, similar to the LG Dare and Versa, instead of the capacitive. Reports over on HowardForums from people who have the newer model say that the screen issues are gone and it works much better. So if you happen to have one of the original Glydes and are sick of the touchscreen problems, you might want to see about replacing it with the newer version. The UPC on the box is: 6-35753-47680-4. What we find interesting is that no Announcement came from Verizon or Samsung.

The Glydes rep has already been ruined. Now that it is cheap it may find a place but the stigma of the first release will be difficult to overcome. I still cant bring myself to recommend it except for as a cheap texting phone.

Honestly, why get a Glyde when someone could get a Storm, Omina, Voyager, Dare, or Versa? Sorry Glyde, you had your chance...but you failed.

Only one problem with the above article. the Glyde, dare, Omina, Versa, even that fruit based phone use the capacitive screen, not resistive. The original Gylde used the resistive screen.

GREAT proofreading. Are we supposed to trust these guys on technology when they can't even get that right?

(BTW, the new screen works great, far better than version 1)

Um BigRed you got the type of screen wrong the Dare, Omnia, and Versa use resistive touch screen. The original Glyde uses a capacitive touch screen.

Thank you for your comment.
Just to clarify, the LG Voyager/Dare/Versa and Samsung Omnia use resistive (pressure sensitive) touchscreen technology, while the iPhone, Motorola Krave, and original Glyde uses capacitive technology. The change is that the newer (refresh) Glydes are now using resistive touchscreens.

Well I am a "people" and I love this phone!!! I've had my eye on this phone for awhile but read too many bad reviews. My upgrade was available last month & found out that it was the "refresh" version. I have not one complaint about this phone the touch screen is awesome. The screen responds to my finger, an inkpen or my finger nail the response time is awesome. If you like the Glyde formfactor and everything, just get it and enjoy it. I love mine.

I went thru 3 glydes, the issue was never the screen for me. this "refresh" is to really bring the manufacturing costs down so they can regain profit from selling it at such a low price.

Yeahhhh, got the "upgrade" to the refresh. It actually worked suprisingly well for a month and then crapped itself. And now I wait for a new phone....
