Yesterday, a rebate form revealed that the upcoming successor of the Verizon Wireless G’zOne Type-S will really be called the Boulder, and will be available in Black Silver, Orange and non-camera variants. Today we are happy to show you a photo of the two color options, which appeared in our mailbox.

Although orange is not the most serious color, it fits really well to the rugged design of this clamshell. As it will also be one of the first phones to offer VZW’s next generation Push to Talk (over EV-DO Rev.A), the Verizon Wireless Boulder will be attractive for the customers, looking at Sprint’s rugged iDEN (and QChat) phones.

I like the look of the phone but the Orange color is something to be desired. So far all of the Gzone phones I've seen have been pretty durable. The only thing I've notice is that some of the older grey Gzones had power issues. Other then that as long as you keep all the ports closed tight with the seals it should keep water out and your phone should be all good from there from anything else it might have.

This at least looks better than the gold/red GZOne that had a short run on VZW's website.

The colours aren't really that important. I think the fact that the new PTT is going to be shot thru VZW's Rev A data network, that's awesome. I'm not sure how Nextel's PTT works, is it on their Rev A as well or no?

VZW should have put a Harley Davidson logo on it.

No Nextel's PTT is not on Rev A. It is still working on the old system because Sprint has not put anymore money into the old Nextel network but is suppose to be releasing QChat sometime in the near future which is suppose to be awesome.

I have the Voyager but have a truck driver friend who has the G-Zone Type V and loves it has dropped it many times. I would love this phone if it had EVDO VCast support.

it does. it needs EVDO for the new PTT, so its 100% certain it will have vcast.

They have a versin with and a version without. This helps people with high security jobs because they are not allowed to have camera phones in secured or classified areas.

I have been fortunate enough to work for Verizon and sell all versions of this phone and am seriously impressed with them. I have convinced many of my friends to get them and they havent had one issue so far. I'll even throw there phone in a pitcher of water at the bar just for the pure shock factor from others that dont know it is water proof/resistant. This is not a biased opinion. It is based off of actual use and results. So far I have not been able to get my hands on another device that does the same or works better. BTW. I think a Yellow "CAT" version would be awesome! But thats just me. ;u)

Yep, the phone really does look good and hardcore. It is just that I don't really like clamshells, but I guess this is the way to make it more bash proof.
