there is a BIG difference for the UI. if the UI is like the iphone (glass) that would be awesome. but if its like the voyager (plastic) then that would just suck because its easier to wear out the screen. i have had a vayager and the touchscreen sucked. im sorry but it did. mine as well wait for the blackberry touchscreen because you know they wont use cheap material like LG

When does this thing actually come out and how much will it actually cost? I love the phone though!

Current speculation is early July (possibly July 4th) for around $300, but none of that has been confirmed yet.

Yay ... another device using a crap resistive screen that works better with a stylus, where they don't give you a stylus. What is that about? These things will NEVER rival iPhone or be as much fun to use if they don't make the touch screen as responsive and natural as what Apple gave us for iPhone. Single touch? Yesterday. Non accurate resistive screen? Give me a break. If you are going to create a resistive screen device, at least include a stylus. THAT, and every Verizon phone is the same. This thing will have the same layout at Voyager. All VZW phones are so cookie cutter its disgusting.

Well the thing with multitouch is that Apple has a patent on it so no one else can use it. And the Dare's screen is pressure sensitive, like you said, but it is supposedly much more responsive than the usual pressure sensitive screen.

#103...I'm not even close to an Apple fanboy...but where are you getting that the Dare has everything the iPhone does? For God's sake, you can install apps on the iPhone. It has a full OS as opposed to a basic UI. I have been reading about the Dare since it was first confirmed by the FCC in January, ...but has EVERYTHING the iPhone has...you ,missed the mark.

how big is the actually screen going to be ?

not the resolution but the screen ?

and the voyager and the sare are not compareable devices.

the voyager is a messgaing phone

while the dare will be a media phone.

Actually the Voyager was marketed as a media phone more so than a messaging phone.

I hope the Dare will have WiFi. But Verizon will probably cripple Bluetooth transfer, WiFi, and Custom Ringtones like always.

You're correct, it is bluetooth 2.0.

@ #82: When is the last time a nonsmartphone was released with WiFi? Come on, why do people keep expecting that? It's not going to happen. This is not the iPhone.

we had the 6900 and the i760 and i770 are all with wifi. when it comes to custom ringtones, ANY verizon phone supports custom ringtones, and NO I dont pay for them. And all the other customization you geeks demand is there already, I can change my UI on almost any of the phones sold in Verizon and it is simple.

This phone is going to blow att out the water, along with the Blackberry Thunder , Verizon can reasonably expect their user base to go up to 90 million by the end of the year

Like I said, when is the last time VZW has released a NON SMARTPHONE with WiFi? The i760, i770, etc. are all smartphones. The Dare is not.

the 6900 does not and never will have wifi, i dont get why people think vzw cripples wifi, they dont change it or try to remove it on any of the smartphones, the company who makes them determines those things

uhh... i have a v3m and had to do seem edits to enable usb transfer of ringtones. verizon wants everyone to use get it now to get ringtones.

i think this would have killed the iphone if it had wifi.

Anyone play with this phone yet? How's the web brower? Is the screen size good enough to have a decent browsing experience? I played with the glyde... no good. Screen is way to small for browsing and is not very responsive. Hope this phones touch screen is a little better.

I've been waiting to get rid of my Q (which sucks) for months and I've been waiting for this phone. Most of what I've read has been positive but I'm concerned about some of the postings around the limited functions of the DARE. I'll need full abiliity to sync with outlook (mail, calendar) and ability to send/view attachments (not necessarily edit). If it can do those things, has a decent UI and decent basic phone caps (easy to use/hear, etc...) I'm probably sold. There simply isn't anything that VZ has in its current line-up that I've liked enough to by incl the Voyager (which I personally find to be clunky and feels cheap). If anyone can comment a bit more on the functionality I'd appreciate it. Tks

you might be out of luck with full abiliity to sync with outlook (mail, calendar) and ability to send/view attachments. I do believe verizon has some GIN program that might allow some of that, but you may have to stick with a smartphone if that is what you need.

VZW reps aren't typically informed about upcoming phones until right before they are released. Even though the info is there for them to find, most of them don't care enough to find out.
