It seems Mozilla has plans to deliver its mobile Firefox (aka Fennec) browser to the Android platform, informs CNET. A year ago, the company said a browser version for Android OS wouldn´t be developed, because apps designed for it run on Java, which comes with certain limitations. However, last week Google announced the Android NDK (Native Development Kit) v1.0, which should enable developers to write programs running in the operating system’s Linux-based layer. So, according to Jay Sullivan, Mozilla’s vice president of mobile division, Android users have a sporting chance of seeing Firefox on their smartphones, as company developers are now checking if the NDK is able to provide the necessary capabilities.
