aright ppl im thinking about getting a sidekick II but I dont know....if t-mobile could come out with a phone like the sidekickII that could play music listen to the radio and be able to hook up to your computor with no extera charge AND have the communication that the current sidekick II has. THAT would be a phone worth buying where you could listen to music AND have the connectivity that the sidekick II has.
I did some reaserch on the K700i( sony ericcson)
and if you could mix a sidekick with a phone like that you would have a phone that everyone would buy.

I just got mine over a month ago. And I got to say, I really do like it. Overall it's a very nice, and really special phone. I learned how to use all the features soon, but I really never knew about the USB port. I know it comes with one and where it's located, the only thing is I need to know what can be put on the phone.

This phone is one of the best phones that T-mobile has eva came out with! It has a cool design and changeable
shoulder buttons to fit your mood, and belive me, I am moody. So this is the best phone for me. The only thing I would change is the battery feature and plate color.

25. Hiptop T-Mobile Sidekick II

I bought my Sidekick II this past November and I love it. A very versatile phone, this is. It's extremely handy in boring situations and very helpful when quick directions are needed(Yahoo! Maps, etc.).
I dare say this phone is built like a tank. I've dropped it on tile floors, concrete, everything and I pick it up and it's completely immune to anything that just happened.
In response to Hojomojo's post I have a few replies.
I don't know what you're talking about with this USB stuff. I'm a hiptop developer, it didn't cost me a dime. I already had a USB cable so I didn't have to go out and purchase one. And yes, you can simply download ringtones and install them. I create my own. You just have to download HipTop Console for FREE from Danger's site and get a developer's key for FREE and spend a little work and effort learning the programming language.
Concerning batteries, that's just a personal preference. Personally, I'm quite surprised at the battery life of my Sidekick II.
About the onboard camera - It's a camera phone, not a $1,200 Canon. What were you expecting?
I think you're just very confused about some things. I don't find the Sidekick II very limited at all. The only thing I'd like in it would be Java capabilities.
But for a $200 phone, it's incredible.

26. Sidekick 2 - take it or leave it.

I've had my sidekick 2 for aboug 6 months now. It's pretty good, but there are some limitations that I just can't get over.
First of all, you can't expand the memory. Whatever it comes with (I think 16MB), your stuck with.
Next is the fact that you cannot get any content onto the device without paying someone. It comes with a USB cable socket, but there is no support for it unless you become a developer. You can't simply download a midi file (which the Sidekick DOES support) and make it a ringtone, you HAVE to BUY it from Tmobile or Danger or whoever.
Thirdly, you can't change out the battery. If you find your battery charges are lasting not quite as long as they used to (your battery isn't holding it's charge as long), you can't simply change out the battery. You have to (I'm told) send it to Sharp and have them install a new batter. Now, I'm also told that the battery is supposed to last for 3 years. True, in this day and age, who wants to keep a piece of technology for three years? But still, it just seems to me that you should be able to at least change the batteries.
Fourth, what about the software? I've had it for six months and the list of software you can (HAVE TO) buy has not changed. Yeah, this ain't no Palm here where you can get software for it a Staples. I just read that they are putting Java in the next version of the OS (2.3) sometime this summer. While that should increase the amount of software available, how much more of my precious 16MB of memory is Java going to take up?
Lastly, I've never been too crazy about the camera. It's never worked great in low light situations. It has a "flash" which is really just a white light LED that comes on when you take a picture. But I've never seen it actually effect the quality of a low light picture. Bright light pictures come out great, but low light pictures, forget it.
Really, if there is going to be a sidekick 3, give it a SDIO card reader, a changable battery and activate the USB socket so you can hook it up to your PC and put stuff on it. Stop nickle and diming us to death!
I love my Sidekick but I'm really feeling tied down by the limitations. I'm serioulsly thinking of pitching it in favor of a Treo 650.

27. Mobile Communication Excellence

I have had this phone for a while, and it is the best phone I've ever owned. I do a lot of AIM and e-mail, as well as SMS, so the built-in qwerty keyboard is a godsend. I have good reception almost all the time. Sound quality is excellent on either built-in speaker, speakerphone, or headset.
Battery life is quite robust for how much use I put my Sidekick through.
Downloadable apps really help add to the usefulness of this product.
The only additions I would like would be a bigger screen, removable storage, MP3 player, and Javascript support.
For anyone who wants a little more than just talking on the phone, and would use the AIM, SMS, e-mail, or web on the go, I would highly recommend this phone.

I did like it when i first bought it. Then.. I noticed.. The screen when its closed and open is ALWAYS exposed. If you drop this phone there is a good chance you are going to crack the screen. If your going to get this, make sure you gental person.
I would get the AT&T OGO ....
