After using a demo one, I left without buying it. The touchscreen drove me nuts trying to use it. The software was slow, and the transitions were not smooth. Scrolling in the browser isn't smooth either.

I'm waiting for Sprint to show their hand of new Blackberries, if not, it's off to AT&T to get a Bold.

Wtf are you talking about #71? All Verizon Phones are Special Ed Phones... they are crippled! Are you serious?! A Special Ed Network with Special Ed Phones... and some Special Ed Customers such as yourself.

What did they cripple on the Storm again? Besides putting that ugly red checkmark as the default wallpaper?

Are you serious? ATT's network is only based on global coverage. In the US they are microscopic! Compare their coverage, especially their 3G, to Verizon's in the US. Who's got the biggest now? Seriously. Some people. How often do you go abroad?

You're crazy - there is nothing slow about the storm. The touch screen is so fast it's like "lighting" LOL Can't keep it in stock. Sorry ATT :)

can you please show us some facts.. charts.. maps.. that you can use to prove that point? Coverage wise, Verizon creams the competition nationally. Data coverage wise, its just embarrasing. If VZW was a doughnut, ATT wouldnt even be big enough to be the hole. If you base your statement off of the stupid commercials that lie to you, its based on "global coverage" which means they have partnerships for roaming outside of the US, which is a partnership, not ATT service.

Like anything, nothing is 100% so you will always find spots where company B is better than company A or company C.. ect ect, but on the whole, its VZW all the way in AMERICA.

As for the storm you played with, if it was slow it was because everyone was playing with it and noone turned all the APPS OFF.
just like a windows or many other smartphones, the storm leaves EVERY APPLICATION you play with RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT IT, when you back out of it. You have to actually close the program down through the menu to turn it off. Once you dont have 30 things running, its very fast and smooth.
any other hiccups will be fixed in a software update. any new major device is bound to have a bug or 2.. especailly your precious Iphone which has had nothing but troubles lately.

its cool it looks real nice. i also used the demo wanted to see it first. i texted a lot of friends, and i have to admit that texting on the phone takes getting use to and believe it or not your gonna get tired of it, or at least your thumbs will. its cool that it clicks but it requires you to push on it, not just touch it and i actualy put more pressure than an actual keyboard phone. im gonna have to develope a thumb work out program so i can enjoy this later. it reminds me of playing video games, then your thumbs hurt. the ladys probably wont like it. lol

Most of the demo phones in the stores came out of the box set to 2 or 3 on sensitivity and no one bothered to adjust. Raise it to 5 and lower the "hover time" to 100 and it will be Lot easier to text and navigate in general. Still takes some adjustment, but after tweaking the settings i love mine

I'm returning mine, the phone is a pain for me to use. SurePress is annoying, and the software is slow.

Not sure if I'm going to hold out for the Omnia or go get an iPhone.

I got four in the store and it took 5 minutes for it to start up, unlike my Curve that takes 2 1/2 minutes. But once it turned on, OH MY! The touchscreen actually reminds me of my trackball. You glide your figures across the screen to move and scroll and press down on the screen to select an object. Some may say this is not user friendly, but lets face it, ITS A BLACKBERRY, they DON"T lose customers because once you're a Blackberry user, you are a Blackberry customer for life. The Storm will have you name your phone. When you refer to it you will call it your Blackberry not your phone. The phone is sexy, sleek, and a touchscreen Blackberry. It works like my curve but its just prettier. If the Iphone was available for VZW, i would get it, but its not, so the Storm will do for me. Its a great start to, what i believe, RIM's new line of phones.

come on now. I have an iPhone 3g too but I don't find it necessary say stiff like that even though I know where you're coming from. You and I both probably told people to wait for the phone to come out first before comparing and calling it an iPhone killer. I still think the phone is pretty cool, but I just hope that next time people wait before bragging.

Ok first of all I agree with 20. Why don't you wait and see before saying anything? Second, the iPhone is an awesome phone, but it will never be as good as it could be without verizon. Verizon beats AT&T any day and you know it. The service is much better. That's why almost all of the people I know with an iPhone complain of dropped calls all the time. The only one that doesn't complain about dropped calls uses it for internet only, and that doesn't even work correctly for him all the time. What you ultimately pay for when you get a phone is the service, that's the most important thing. All the extra features are great, but the service can make or break a phone.

And by the way, let's see the iPhone send a picture message, or let's see it even take video. Also, you're comparing a phone that has been out for a while, and has gotten upgrades and things since then, to a phone that is brand new today. Give it some time and get over yourself.

Alright fine, go ahead and talk about all the other problems with it. What's more important, taking pictures and video, or holding a call? It's a great phone, but it could be better, that's all. Every iPhone I've used drops calls consistently, which is really annoying. If it can't function well as a PHONE first, it still needs to be improved. Either way, Verizon is still better than AT&T. Call me a "fanboy" if you want, because honestly that's all you can really say.

so basically you have to jailbreak or hack the phone to make it do a pic/video which clearly consumer america is not trained on. You figure with the technology apple works with, a simple thing like pictures and videos would be included. Or is that another one of those apps you have to pay for? ;-)

ALRIGHT HERE IS THE TRUTH ON THIS DEVICE!!!!!! I am a verizon user. I also like the Iphone (gasp!!) The storm is awesome. What I like about it is that is different from any other touch screen. To let everyone know their is an update already made for the storm software it just hasnt been publically released. (it isnt the first) It is alittle slow between screens but it isnt terrible. I can honestly say its what i want over an Iphone but its also different so it isnt really apples to apples. It is good enough of a device to give Apple a run and has enough different features to pull some away. Its going to be an on going debate because its going appeal to different users. It doesnt blow the Iphone away but it isnt over shadowed by the Iphone either. In my opinion its the first phone that can go head to head with the Iphone. To each his own and enjoy.

Actually, after Verizon's aquisition of Alltel, ATT is not the #1 consumer provider. They haven't been the highest rated provider for call quality and coverage for quite awhile and with the merger, they just lost their spot of #1 for total customers.

Listen, I am so glad that all the reviews talk about how glitchy this phone is. Not so much for Rim but for all of you VZ morons who think your company does not make mistakes. You guys took all your shots at the I Phone and saying how you guys passed on it and I know you did but guess what, we passed on this one. Just like VZ had first shot at the I Phone, ATT had first crack at the Storm and chose the Bold. ( for all of you doubters, just look and see who is the number 1 seller of BB products in the US and that would be ATT) BB users are a group of professionals who want and need an actual keyboard not a virtual one. I am not saying this phone isn't nice and sexy but not what a true BB pro wants. Now all of you BB owners who want a BB to just text ( I am not sure why) prob love this phone. I had three VZ customers come into my store today all with BB from VZ. I asked them why they were not at VZ buying the Storm, all of them said the same thing as I was ringing them out after they purchased our Bold, "I need something that I can type on while I'm driving, flying or just relaxing that has an actual keyboard." I don't have time to hunt and peck around on a touch screen. I had to agree with them. Enjoy it VZ, we will have this as well as a touch screen version of the Bold by summer. You guys can say whatever you want but when it comes to BB, ATT leads the way.

79 I agree with you. Everyone has a choice of what phone and what carrier they want to use. I am not sure why there is such a pissing match on this site. These are two phones that are going to change wireless forever. We should be glad this is happening. Can you imagine what will come out down the road. I work for ATT and I am glad that this phone is out becuase it will raise the bar for the others to release better phones. Competition is a good thing for both sides. Not every carrier can always win. I will give credit where credit is due and hats off to VZ with this device. Maybe this will pushh Apple and ATT to make the next software update include some new options and vic versa. Now does ATT's network need some work? Sure it does. Not to make any excuses for them but atleast you guys have Alltel and Sprint to help fill in, who do we have T M obile? We would need a 10 band phone to keep up with their goofy frequencies. And dont get me started on T Mobile's hairline section of 3G. This is why it will be nice when 4G comes out and we will all have the same technology and the same Frequencies. Ok, I ma not officially off my soapbox.

I agree, and who was the one who set a large cornerstone for wireless broadband...Verizon! Who has the largest 3G network...Verizon. So whats the point of getting and iPhone 3G when it doesn't even have alot of 3G coverage to feed off of. In a city maybe its pretty good, but once you want to take a little trip in alot of other areas in the US you'll find that Verizon will have more bars and broadband.

#1 provider in what way? I have never read anything showing AT&T being number one, with the exception that they HAD the most customers. Well now that vzw has bought Alltel, AT&T doesn't even have that distinction anymore. So I guess we can go back to what is still the truth.... AT&T is still SHITTY

ATT was "#1" based on customers but not for long...and its sure not coverage or 3G haha...and surveys and studies have said Verizon to be the most reliable and in some cases the BEST. ATT is just smoke and mirrors. btw att's "more bars" claim is fake too! look it up on their website

#52 are you serious? LG makes awesome phones?!?! i don't understand your logic behind saying that what have the made the was an awesome phone ? the voyager? the secret? the decoy? LG makes midrange phones that are "easy" to use so people think they are cool but LG does not make awesome phones.

I got to mess around with the storm over the past couple of days and i have not been impressed. after the long time i had to wait for the phone to finally load up i finally got to play with it, is there a way to disable the "button" because it is very annoying and i did not like it at all, the phone can recognize you are hitting it but nothing happens till you press it. the touch was slow as was moving from application to application. i dont understand why BB and VZW would decide to make such a shotty device if your paying $200 or more on a phone i would hope that it would not rattle if you move it up and down. the whole button looks like it is going to fall off because there is so much room that it can move. the camera is better than the iphone at least it has some decent features to bad it takes for ever for it to focus.
ATT is good for one reason only, to buy an unlocked gsm phone that is not available by major carriers, so it can be used on what little 3g there is since tmobile's 3g doesnt count unless you have a tmobile branded phone

#107 seriously? If you dont like the phone cool but do you realize how dumb it is to say their will be a touch screen Bold. The Bold is an ugrade curve with the new 4.5 software. God you ATT fanboys are dumb. IM not saying ATT wont eventually get the Storm but a touch screen bold would be the Storm. Your so dumb. I had more ATT customers than i could count asking for the storm today. I dont know if it was the same everywhere. Everyone that mentions the Bold and ATT, I simply say well if your going to switch why would you get the Bold at 400 instead of the curve at 170 and download the software from Blackberry.com. Other then some minor harware upgrades, it isnt that different and clearly not worth nearly twice the amount. Then I ask them if they every have any real issues with their Verizon service. The answer is always no and they either buy a curve and I download the 4.5 software for them or they say they will wait for the Storm.

you won't have this by summer, that's why it's an exclusive. Like your I-phone

Also like to see proof of the touchscreen bold.

not suprised this post is filled with lies, you do work for ATT afterall

Yes, Verizon makes mistakes, but this wasn't one of them. After a few software upgardes to fix some glitches (how manay has I-phone had now?) this will be a near perfect phone

I just got finished looking at how much this phone is going to cost me. My wife and I both want either a BB or an iPhone.

Iphone, family plan, 1400 minutes, 200 messages a piece, data package = $131.00 a month

BBStorm, family plan, 1400 minutes, 250 messages a piece, corporate data package = $185.00 a month.

Over 2 years...Verizon is an extra $1,296.00...OUCH!!!!

I don't see how you figure that. I have not been able to get that to equate. In fact, I went to the Verizon store on Wednesday and asked them what the cost difference would be for my current plan and a BB plan.

I currently pay $95.00 for my wife and I. They said tack on an additional $44.00 (37 after corp discount) a piece for corporate email and there we would have it. So...$169.00 (with corporate discount)

I went to the ATT site and came out to (after corporate discount) $131.00

I will certainly check with a rep first, but those are the numbers that have been given to me by both sites and company reps.

VZW=89.99 for 1400 min for 2 lines. $10 for 2 txt packages(hint vzw's includes pic & flix that an iphone cant do)250 messages and then $59.98 for the 2 Data packages ($29.99 each)=$159.97!! If you are talking corporate email than an extra $30 will need to be added for both lines. But your also getting better coverage & Reliability with VZW and Storm can do a lot more. Some can say that its slower but it does a lot more!!!

ha, yea sprint is the best company ever, wonder why they lose 1.5 million customers every 3 months...They really must be the superior phone company. Man I need to cancel my contract and switch to them immediatley.

I own a cell phone store and used to sell Verizon, ATT, and TMobile. I dropped ATT. For your pricing options, Both Verizons and ATTs Family 1400 plans are $89.99 a month. Both company's data plans for each respective phone costs $29.99 a month. Messaging for ATT is as follows: $5 for 200 messages, $15 for 1500 messages, $20 for unlimited messages. Messaging for Verizon is as follows: $5 for 250 messages, $10 for unlimited "IN" messaging (mobile-to-mobile) and 500 messages, $15 for unlimited "IN" messaging and 1500 messages, $20 for unlimited "IN" messaging and 5000 messages. Looking at that, I'd say they are pretty damn similar. They're pricing is going to be almost identical. The 2 biggest differences in Verizon's favor is Coverage and Customer Service. Now it would be nice if both sides stopped acting like children about this when they aren't as knowledgeable as they think...

Hey go suck a nut nobody said sprint was the best however you are a brain washed tool....... Welcome to the rat race you might last 6 months when you cant hit quota because of all your charge backs. Anybody can tell lies and hustle people into blowing their hard earned money. Keep sucking the international pipeline kid if it wasnt for vodaphone Big red would be nothing. At least sprint remains the largest Indepent US owned wireless carrier.

They have no choice but to lower their prices on everything. When you continue to lose customers and money, quarter after quarter because your customer base has no faith in you, you have to do something to try and compete. The company is obviously struggling for a reason and its NOT because they offer great service at cheap price ;)

Not sure I get what you mean by that. I have shopped my local VZ and I will be honest, I wan't impressed. Now all sales reps have bad days and maybe that was the case with this guy. When I went in I told him that I was thinking about switching and I mentioned that it would come down to price. When we compared plans and price and figured that it came out dead even, he actually told me that it would not be worth switching. When I asked him about network and that I needed a PDA with a really fast internet conection he told me that VZ service in my area was not as good as what ATT had in the area and actually told me where the local ATT location was and even suggested the I Phone. Now I work at the ATT store that he directed me to and was kinda of dumb founded at his reponce. I actually for a minute thought about hiring him cause he did such a good job selling me a competitors service but then came back to reality and realized what he had just done. I appreciated his honesty but questioned his loyalty. I will have to say that in my area ATT does have the superior network as we have 3G and VZ does not. Im pretty sure that is not in the VZ sales handbook to push customers to ATT. Thanks though

WOW! someone is actually defending Sprint?! That network sucks! They even sold their towers so they could pay the bills! They loose millions of customers at a time! That should tell you something. And on a "common ground" point of view...at least Verizon and AT&T doesn't roam like Sprint, you either have service or you don't, none of that roaming charges crap. I may have Verizon but I'd go to AT&T as a secondary before going lower than that. Words of wisdom, go big or go home.

Yeah and not to mention Sprint's false advertisements. Like "largest 3G network"..."#1 business network"..."most powerful network" all crap. Verizon clearly has the largest 3G network, and JD Power ranked Verizon the highest overall, so Sprint's claims seem a bit short.

vzw is in now way hurting neither is att for that matter. i havent seen tmobiles 4 q numbers they r making money too. even metro pcs is making money. so sprint actually is loosing money in a market that thier competitors are making money by the buckets. only a few industries make more money than the cell phone industry

Words of wisdom.....from a moron, 155. Sprint has no roaming charges. You get to roam for free. So know what you're talking about before you spout misinformation.

And who the hell cares if they own their towers or not? They own the spectrum. That's what's important.

you are a fat homo !!!! like you would sign upo 51.5 just becasue sprint has low stock doesnt mean that they are out of money or going to be bought out. They have plenty of cash flow to make it through a rough time not to mention there is a lot of transition that is taking place that may take some time to correct..... Oh and Not to mention Americas First and Only 4g network. Sprint will bounce out of this but you cock suckers Know everything about business......... The corporate exchange support costs more ($15 more per plan) on Verizon otherwise the cost for data on a blackberry is only $29.99 and the corporate discounts may be be different for Verizon and AT&T as well as the type of iphone because 3G data speed costs more than 2G

Verizon - 1400 family share Select plan (unlimted text)$119.99 + 2 Storms = 179.99 per month
With the basic plan $89.99 , 250 messages ea. $10 + 2 Storms = 159.99 per month

ATT - 1400 Fam share 89.99 + unlimted messaging $40 + 2 I phones = 189.99 per month
1400 Fam share 89.99 +200 messages each $10 + 2 I Phones= 159.99 Per month

if you're going to talk prices, don't lie about things that are easily available on both companies websites

So, I called my local Verizon Store last night, and I had asked them what time were they going to open and they told me at 7 am. So i woke up at 5:30 got ready left my house at 5 till 6 and got there in 15 mins. I was like wow it early, so i went across to Walmart Mc Donalds and bougt me some breakfast, then drove back. As soon as I reache the parking lot, there were already people walking out the door with the Storm! So i was like yay!, I went to open the doors, and of course they were locked. Then a rep came to the door to rescue me and opened the door, asked me "Do you have Verizon already?" and I said "Yes", so she let me in, I gave here my number, and they looked up the account. Then they told me that it was gona cost me $20 to do an upgrade in the store unless I did a new line of service. So I chose the latter. Mind you, that I already have 7 lines of Service with these vzw. Anyhoot, getting back to the juicy news... So the refered me to a sales person, (who did not know what was going on, in my opinion) to activate my phone, and 3 times I was told i have a new number cause each application in their system was freezing up. (People must have been buying plenty at 6:30am in hawaii, or elsewhere around the states) So finally i recieved a good number and I activated the line (I now have 8 lines, whoop-dee do for me!) But they did wave my actiavation fee, stuff. I took it home and started setting it up, and noticed that this phone does have alot of lag when it comes to processing things, but the touch screen itself was supurb. The clickable touch is a neat feature, but can be annoying sometimes when thats not what you really meant to do, or if your trying to place the cursor someplace to complete a webpage. Over all this device has a lot of good features and that is what is holding me to it, that with my current dare i cannot do. (ie. open attachments from emails, and have a syncing calendar with my pc thats on my mac) haha. go figure that one yea? no Iphone. sorry, not reliable enough in terms of wireless service, heck the power went down here for several hours, and they had no service. I am happy have the most reliable. Back to reality now. Ultimately I can become a customed to this new device as it will grow on me when i learn how to use it more. I have used blackberries in the past, and i have liked them also. Wanna here more? let me know. I'll write another story for you when I have it all set up. Thanks for reading (If you were reading this that is....) Have a Stormy Day! No punn intended (although its gonna storm over here in Hawai`i) at least thats what the weather says. But ok, so now im really going to go. buh bye 4 now! Happy Thanksgiving. :)

Hey if you loved techno gadgets you could have saved money activating your new storm and then switched back to the old phone later when you wanted. 8 lines for 1 person sounds like a waste of $70/month not including taxes. Hmm.. I agree, not a bright move on your part. Or buy a phone and stick with it for 2 years.

actually people, the 8 lines are include people from my family. two of them are mine, the dare and the storm. :) but my bills are avg $360 with tax right now. 5 on a 2100 Premium, and 3 on 550 loyalty. Its a mix and match sort of thing.

Why does everything have to be compared to the i-phone and I use that term "phone" loosely. One side note: I know the intended function of the i-phone was to consolidate devices, but most of the friends that I know who use an i-phone have also purchased a second phone that doesn't require them to leave the office to make phone calls. That said I love the i-phone. However this Blackberry is no comparison. It's in a whole other league. I view its expandable memory, replaceable battery, VZW coverage and customer service, and push-touch screen as top notch improvements and being far superior to that of the i-phone. Lets face it there will never be a perfect device. If manufacturers could solve every issue with one phone where would the flourishing cellular market be? For me I could never be without my blackberry and if I choose to carry a second phone its only because work is paying for it and not because I need it to supplement when my "main" phone won't cut the mustard.

i doubt you even touched a storm yet, you vzw fanboy... that network claim is pretty ridiciulous, unless you live in the boonies... most carriers have good to great coverage in major cities... the number of times a customer calls customer service a year is not even worth mentioning... the thing the customer notes is the phone, and how it works, especially smartphones... when vzw cripples phones, and they are too slow to open basic commands, vzw fanboys cling to the "what good is a phone if it doesnt have a good network" claim... in the business world, you need the ability to do things fast... open files, send files, view pages, etc... the storm seems slow to do a lot of things... plus, i dont want to add a $40/month charge to go work out at the gym to keep my thumbs in shape to "click" the screen... i can already see it now... BREAKING NEWS: Man hears 2 clicks as he types on storm. 1 click on the phone, 1 click in his broken thumb!

You don't seem to have much arguement there mr. 69...Calls to customer service? I've had Sprint and ATT and had to make calls to complain about mistakes once every month or two. The only nice thing about the fact that the only realistic complaint about the phone is the slow software, is the fact that a firmware upgrade can and most likely will be released to fix the problem. As for issues, the iPhone had it's fair share too when it was first released so to the "ATT Fanboys", it's not fair to make the comparison yet. The same goes out to VZW users...

You are 100 percent right that it has not been out long enough and firmware may fix some issues but that did not stop every VZ customer and worker to bag on the I Phone the second it launched. Every phone needs time to adjust and not everything is perfect out of the gate. Why should the I Phone fans and all the VZ bashers out there give VZ a break? I know it sounds so childish but for a company or I should say VZ clowns on this site, that basically claims perfection they should be able to roll with it like the rest. This is day one and every major review bashes it one way or another. One went as far as to call it a waste of touch screen technology. I even found that a little harsh. Every VZ employee and I Phone critc set themselves up for this. It sucks when its your company getting beat down. There are always idiots out there that will bitch about something. Can you believe they are charging an extra $30 a month to have this phone. Where are all of you VZ employees bashing ATT for the extra charges for the I Phone? WOW, it seems that it will cost you the same to have the Storm too now that you actually have a phone that is some what comparable unlike the Dare and the Envy which were dumb phones(non PDA). Can't use that lie anymore....

The BB storm was rushed, is buggy and is very slow. Not impressive by any stretch of the imagination. BB realy dropped the ball on this one and it had such potential too, thats the sad part. I am very disapointed in this phone. BTW not a i phone lover not a VZ fan boy this is BB problem stright and simple. It already has a new softwere update for it how sad is that.

Most phones have software upgrades, what # is the iphone on (4th or 5th)? Have you used the phone? I have, I'm impressed. The device has not crashed, froze, or gave me any problems. Everyone on here sounds like a broken record saying the same crap everybody said in there reviews. My guess is most of you posers have not used the device. For my money I'll take a Blackberry Storm on VZW over Iphone on ATT, easy choice. All you haters go drop a call on your iphone for me.

ok straight off, im an ATT guy, but NOT an iphone guy, i had one and sold it for sumtin else, but i got rid of it NOT because i thought it was a bad phone, fact is, was it was smooth, durable, and my signal was fine. i just dont like touchscreen, so quit bitching about the i phone, cuz i could bet money that if it was on your VZW network, u wouldnt even mention the bad things about the phone, you would act like its the greatest phone in the world, so quit acting like u know anything.
