Big announcement coming soon from T-Mobile ; Project Black to shake things up? This article contains unofficial information.

advertisment:
We are hearing from a tipster that T-Mobile is about to shake up the status quo of the U.S. cellular industry. The carrier's employees are being trained tomorrow for "Project Black". The mysterious sounding name is supposed to be something so enormous in reach that it is expected to lift T-Mobile out of 4th place among the nation's wireless operators. Those involved in this have signed non-disclosure agreements, so this looks to be huge.

Our tipster also tells us to expect a 3G BlackBerry by Xmas. He also ran into a Nokia rep who quit the next day, so she didn't mind revealing that there will be 2 "N" series smartphones at T-Mobile early next year including the Maemo 5 powered N900. He said to expect more high-end Nokia devices to be coming to T-Mobile.

Thanks anonymous tipster!

I wonder if this has anything to do with a possible partnership/merger with another carrier, say Sprint perhaps?

horrible idea. t-mobile can become about 80 million strong in the network if they bought out sprint, but they would be shooting themselves in the foot with that. Because thats integrating GSM, sprint's network, and i think one other one.

Expanding business and total bankruptcy with it? i don't think so.....

i really dont understand anyone believing that sprint ant Tmobile will merge. Even if they were the same type of technology, sprint is so bad off, its not worth buying, otherwise im sure VZW would have by now. Its easier to let them sink and just absorb new customers. If tmobile bought sprint, you would have 2 networks on different technology not compatable w/ eachother. you would have to either shut down one network and force everyone to switch, or end up in the same nasty mess sprint is already in with nextel... which is one of the big reasons why they are in so much trouble to begin with.

Not exactly. Verizon made that huge purchase of Alltel and they don't exactly have enough money to buy both Sprint along with the debt that Sprint has. Verizon may have an absolute ton of customers, but they also shell out a lot of money to maintain that network in addition to trying to pay off that debt.

Very interesting, "the mysterious sounding name is supposed to be something so enormous in reach that it is expected to lift T-Mobile out of 4th place among the nation's wireless operators". What could be that big a merger, a shocking announcement of the iPhone or something better? Better be good because it's building up suspense.

Amazing that the side kick system is down and side kicks are out of stock on the tmobile site, while project black is in the works.
