Best Buy also offers 'refreshed' iPhones

advertisment:
On the heels of Apple selling refurbished iPhones online, big box retailer Best Buy is also following the same path. Started on December 28, they are offering both the 8GB and 16GB models at $149.99 and $249.99 respectively. Instead of being branded as a refurbished device, Best Buy is calling it a "refreshed" iPhone which are tested, re-flashed, and re-packaged by a third party. Unfortunately these models do not offer Apple's 1 year manufacturers warranty, but it comes with Best Buys 1 year warranty. This means that you will have to return the phone to any Best Buy store if there is a defect with it to have it serviced. The savings isn't quite as great when compared to the refurbished ones that AT&T is offering online, but you won't need to pay shipping or wait for the device to arrive. Right now, Best Buy is selling their 8GB and 16GB models new in a box for $189.99 and $289.99 until January 3, 2009. However, if you want to save a little change, you can opt to purchase those dandy refreshed iPhones instead!

There must be a ton of "refreshed" iphones out there if best buy will be selling them too. At least you get a one year warrenty instead of the 90 day the apple offers on the refurbs.
