You know that people interested in the mobile industry are talking about a presumable Apple tablet right now. You also know that this tablet may be called iSlate and could be announced on January 26. However, you do not know what the specifications of the device are. Well, that’s about to change… now.

We have just received some images of what seem to be internal Apple documents, revealing the Apple iSlate specifications. And what specs these are! A 7.1-inch multitouch display with fingerprint-resistant coating, 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 120GB hard drive, built-in projector… actually you can check the list yourselves. We cannot be sure if that information is to be trusted, but if we are lucky enough… boy, won’t the iSlate just rock?! To top it off, according to these docs, Apple’s tablet will run on the new Mac OS X 10.7 Clouded Leopard platform that will allow for touchscreen functionality and will bring a new widget-based homescreen. So, it now seems that the only thing left to do is hope this info is real and that the device will sport a 3G receiver so you can surf the web anytime you want. We already have our fingers crossed for a January 26 announcement of the Apple iSlate.

Apple would NEVER:

A.1) List a processor without a model number.
A.2) List a non-ULV processor for a netbook.
A.3) List a 2.26GHz processor on a netbook when it would primarily be whacked down with power management options.
A.4) List a L2 cache size on a separate specification.

B.1) List two SODIMMs in a 7-inch netbook.

C.1) List a non-SSD in an ultra-mobile format.
C.2) List a hard drive as "SATA" without specifying which generation SATA.
C.3) List a 4200-rpm drive on a power managed netbook.

D.1) Include a built-in projector on an ultra-mobile design that wouldn't put out at least remotely decent image quality.
D.2+ (see below)) Include a built-in projector on a presumably single piece tablet. How would you stand it up?

E.1) List the size 7", then proceed to classify as a 7.1" screen, if they weren't to put out presumably at least one more size, which they would not, considering its an untapped market for Apple.
E.2) Make a 7" non-single-piece netbook / tablet multi-touch.


They also probably wouldn't call it iSlate unless it were presumably a single-piece tablet.
There's also plenty of things that would contradict itself on the specs sheet if it were a folding netbook / tablet.
And if this iSlate has its own "iSlate development document" paperwork, this would've been more than the first few times I've heard the term.

I call BS on the projector. The processor seems a little fast for a tablet and "Cloud Leopard" is a lame name...

Otherwise this would be a must buy if this speculation is true.

That has to be fake...it still says that the AirPort chip conforms to IEEE 802.11n draft specifications, while 802.11n specifications have already been finalized back in September.

Meh..... It won't be iPhone thin with a 2.24GHz processor, a fan will need to be utilized to keep it cool. Buth a .8"-1.0" tablet has already been made by many windows UMPCs and Tablets. As far as a widget based homescreen, Windows Origami project has been doing that for 3 years on xp and vista tablets, so again nothing new. Way to pretend you innovate mac when all you do is copy Microsoft but make it look like a big iPhone.

Um..Windows Origami looks like Dashboard. Dashboard was introduced in Tiger 2005. And it Still has that stupid start button. Doesn't work on touch device. Windows 7 dock bar looks likes OS X 5 years ago.

Hard to trust anonymous sources. Specs look great. The projector sounds cool but seems odd for apple(makes me doubt the credibility of this) that's also a large processor for a tablet, battery life would be horrible on a machine with such a powerful processor and a small battery. And I dunno if apple would allow that with their new focus on battry power.

Oh well looks cool, sounds cool, I'd buy it if it was well below a grand, but I question the authenticity and credibilty of this article.

Then again, it is phone arena...
