Guys I don't know whyyyyyyyyyy y'all still keep talking about the same over and over.........words from the CEO of VZW himself ( Iphone version for VZW never was, never will ) fanboys trash talking about how 8 wonder of the world their network is, but guess what CDMA is dying and a single iphone uses triple amount of data than any crappy cripple red UI does, am not saying att is the best but for sure is not the worst and try to tell europeans and asians who are years ahead in cell tech of us to switch from HSPA to EVDO, they'll laugh on your redneck faces very bad.

Gentlemen the word on the street is that Verizon will have the iphone on or about august next year. So we'll have to just wait and see what happens. Secondly this isnt asia or europe, so who cares what they think. CDMA dyeing hardly Can you hack a gsm phone absolutely, a cdma phone doubtful. Quite honestly I dont care if VZW gets the iphone or not. But Im sure where theres a will theres a way.

To post # 20.... ummm....North Jersey here bro. Perfect coverage....everywhere; Teaneck, Patterson, Newark, all of Hudson and Union Counties, downtown Manhattan, Midtown Manhattan, Uptown Manhattan, Brooklyn, and...well, you get the picture. I detect "User Error".

I don't know how credible this story is, but if it is true, all I can say is .... WOW!!! A rep of another carrier basically making a "commercial" by touting VZW's superior network. All of Verizon's advertising department couldn't have done a better job themselves. Personally, I like to see competition amongst ALL the major four carriers, but if losing the iPhone causes people to jump ship, then this will be detrimental to AT&T...and it's THEIR FAULT!!! AT&T has sooooo many great devices that they put very little advertising muscle behind simply because they can't seem to detach the iPhone from its pedestal. They have the Bold, the Epix, the BlackJack, the Fuze ..... but you would never know it if you didn't constantly surf forums such as this. All of them are great devices that probably have about three inches of dust sitting on their boxes because the company doesn't push them hard enough. You really have to be careful with promoting a device, making it your "flagship" device, and virtually making it your mascot. Verizon has the Storm but they are constantly hitting you with a barage of other devices as well. Even Sprint doesn't let the Pre's shadow cover up the rest of their handset lineup.

The iPhone is still the iPhone....no matter WHO carries it....well, scratch that. It WOULD be a lot more fun being on a network that is more reliable and has more coverage ( like North Jersey and NYC ). But, unless they make some tweaks ( MMS, removable battery, non dependent on Wi-Fi for the App Store, etc. ), then I'm not impressed.

AT&T advertises "More bars in more places" and how COOL the iPhone is. That's it. The other phones might get a little sidebar here and there. Verizon and Sprint advertise their networks and a slew of devices. Most of their high end devices get a lot of spotlight. AT&T's "non iPhone" devices might get a candlelight.

brikz4real, if you read my post I said they cover Teaneck, just not my section. If your on Cedar Lane your great, your on Teaneck Road your great, get to my block drop, the building manager was trying to convince the board to allow VZW to check the building not sure what came of that didn't care much. As for the Heights go hang out there for a few hours in different zones and then get back to me.

Now you are correct, ATT has other good phones that they do not advertise, they need to step it up advertise those good phones and also work on speeding up the network and less congestion as allot of people complain, if so many complain about it, something gotta be going on.

Now I'm not saying the VZW is the worst, that's by far, T-Mobile got that record and Sprint is not that far ahead, ATT also has it problems there is not denying that, drop in speed (3G), occasional static on the line, drop calls, though I only have them on Route 80.

Why does most reports say Sprint has the best 3g and especialy on the west coast. The only problem I have with Att is the 3g is not always at the same speed.

Good question, I'm on the East Coast and can only speak on this side of the fence. My major problem with ATT is that they don't leverage some of the phones they have and ATT 3G change in speed as well, but overall I only drop a call on Route 80 in one spot, hard to pin point, driving.

Also I have to say ATT is good about logging it when you call and addressing those areas.

Well Miacol....I took your request and went to the Heights. Got service ... four bars .... on my XV6800. It also worked somewhere I didn't intend for it to work....the Subway. In Journal Square and Exchange Place ( Jersey City ). Also, on Park Place in Manhattan, waiting for the 4 train. And that's with the XV6800...by UT Starcomm / HTC .... who's phones are great as PDAs but horrible for service.

AT&T is indeed working on making their network faster....it's just that they are concentrating on the WRONG network. They are pouring tons of money into their 3G network instead of investing it in their future LTE network.

Which Heights did you go to because I was in Washington Heights and my cousins Storm could not grab a signal in front of Medical Center, cross the street to BBQ no problem, in front of our old stomping group (171) no service, up the block on BWay service, in his apartment no service, 193 ST Nich, no service but on 192 service.

All of this foolishness needs to stop. If AT&T was so bad; why did they have so many customers before the Iphone?
Something to think about. Also, they have the 2nd best coverage. As of a matter fact, Att is updating their towers and 3g to the european standard. Put that in your pipes and smoke it. Not to mention, by definition, euro 3g is far more superior than american 3g especialy cdma. Their 3g is like 4.5g to our standards. So who has that standard almost completed; not Big Red. Its AT&T. And another thing, I have both providers. 1 is for work and the other personal. In greater Indianapolis, I can tell NO difference in the two. As for 3g, att tends to be faster 70% of the time. When I travel south, I do get better coverage with att, especialy in the great smokeys. So lets be fare and call it down the middle. Its where U live and various other factors as well as far as coverage. Having said all of that, when my verizon contract is up in a couple of months, I'm shutting of my service and will use the company phone which is AT&T.

Um, last I checked, the current "ATT" is from a merger with the old ATT and Cingular. That might shed some light into your question of "why did they have so many customers before the iphone?"

...dude, wtf is that? Seriously, you're going to compare EURO 3G to 3G American, say American sucks, then go say you're leaving VZW to go to AT&T? Dude, read your stuff before you post those mindless ramblings.

And since you're talking about "Euro to American", do understand that your provider is co-owned by the largest Euro provider?

Oh, and AT&T merged with Cingular, that's where all those customers came from. What'd you do, wake up in a cave 2 years ago?

Facts and truth my ass, ROFL.

Spartan the Merger between ATT Wireless and Cingular Wireless to form the new ATT Mobility occurred in December of 2006 and renamed in January of 2007, way pass the 2 years so if customers wanted to leave they had plenty of time. Oh and by the way, the iPhone added 3 million users bringing ATT to 77 million (before 3GS launch) and VZW brought Alltel to add 10 million to get to the 80 million today. So he is speaking the truth, because if customers wanted they could have canceled their plans, once their contract was over and moved on.

And Yes he can compare the Euro and American 3G because hey are GSM/HSPDA/HDPA+. CDMA/EVDO is used in the USA, Korea, Philippines, and Latin America (which is disappearing because VZW sold VZW Latin American to the company owned by TeleMexico which is in the process of switching the CDMA/EVDO towers to GSM/3G).

...Did you even read my comment, you god damned retard? I was referring to how AT&T had all their customers (not losing them, thanks for big 'ol F in reading comprehension), that's great the iPhone added 3 million and VZW added 10 with Alltel, I really don't care. And finally, he SHOULDN'T say anything about Euro to American, b/c he's an American user who's trashing American coverage, saying Euro has much better network, then goes on to talk about how wickedly badass the American 3g gsm AT&T network is, right after he got done trashing the crap out of it. Read before you most, you retarded s.o.b. Man I hate dumb people.

*Edit: And what in the **** does the VZW Latin have anything to do with what I said? Nothing, you...I'm done. I can't do this anymore...-throws hands up- IDIOTS.

You are so hot headed and silly. I didn't down our 3s. Its what we have and I'm thankful for it. But, facts are facts. If euro 3g is better right now, so what it just is. How does it make me less patrioctic because I state the facts. It doesn't. I love my nation just as much as U do, but I will step up and say we need to come up in some areas . That gos for my family, friends, church, ect. The truth hurts sometime, when it does, say ouch and keep on going and improving. Bottom Line.

LOOK! Wheels are ROUND!

apple and ATT sells LOTS of iphones (like 1/4 of att's customers)
so if VZW sold the iphone
VZW = lots of iphones.

I love when people post obvious things.
I love more that people are paid to do research on common sense.
Well those wheels COULD be round but we should probably spend several million on experiments to proove it....

Once again, U fools have no idea of what your talking about. First off, Cingular bought out att wireless. Cingular was still in controll and att wireless was no more U fools. Then AT&T the compamy merged with SBC in which SBC had the controlling intrest. Well then, The New AT&T/sbc took 60% stock in cincular wireless and it then became apart of the new AT&T as well. Which has always been and still is Big Red's #1 contender. Also U fools, Iphones are only 13% of AT&T's customer base. 1 more thing, AT&T is 100% American Owned. Its Big Red thats half owned by Europe's Vodafone. Check that out U nuts. These are well documented facts. Also, if Europe's 3g is better than ours, so what, their ahead of us in that area. It makes us no less, we just need to catch up. When I lived in the UK, they didn't lock down our phones nor did they put you i bondage for 2 or 3 years. It was only 8 to 16 months which was optional with much better phones and prices. And I'm still gona stick with AT&T when my bigred contract is up. Everything I said is Well Documented!

The only reason AT&T is VZW's number one contender is the iphone and thats all if they didnt have it AT&T would be a minor player in the big four. VZW is still VZW they havnt had to merge with anyone to stay afloat or to hide a bad reputation like Cingular did. AT&T not doing a lot of advertising true that but neither does Verizon, that will change when and if VZW gets the iphone. Well documented really prove it.

I'm going to state the obvious since no one els (that I have read) has. Sooner or later all the fanboys are going to have to quiet down and take a nap. At some point all the carriers are going to have to (begrudgingly) "agree" on technology choice. It just quite simply just doesn't make sense to continue to operate multiple networks covering the same territory. So enjoy exclusivity while it lasts *sigh*. We are yet in another stage of consolidation (and innovation) like every dynamic system (companies, populations, geographic boundaries, social trends, music, etc).

And please continue to leave desperate emotional comments!

I have to agree, I think all the towers in the USA should be set to GSM/3G/LTE and carriers should compete on services.

That's the way everything is shifting anyway. Sooner or later, LTE is going to have replaced the CDMA and GSM networks here in the states on both VZW and ATT. So, at that point, it's going to come down to services provided, customer service, reliability and the such. However, if VZW continues down the same path they've been traveling, they're going to still be on top due to the fact that they consistently score top marks in third party consumer research. Just sayin. And at least for me, I'm glad that VZW is a privately held company between VZ Communications (55%) and Vodafone (45%). That helps ensure those pesky unions steer clear and also helps in helping a company being able to stay focused on running a proper company, rather than dealing with the pesky bureaucratic bullshit. Not unlike what ATT went through a few months back.
