Uh why the crap would they make it heat sensitive anyways... I say they make a second one with touch sensitivity.

Because when done right, heat sensitive screens are more responsive than pressure. The iphone uses heat and has just about the best response on the market. I just with it was on a stronger network....
what about anemic people? and when it's cold outside?
so do the screens just not respond then?
I know some people who have cold fingers 24/7, so would the screen not work on that?

What does a disorder of blood have to do with heat? And even when you're cold, your body still produces heat... if it did'nt, you'd get hypothermia and DIE.

Both the I-Phone and the Glyde use what is called capacitive discharge and are not heat sensitive. The screen has a slight electrical charge so when you touch the screen the charge passes into your finger. That is why touching with the fingernail or side of your finger does not work. The fingernail is not conductive and the side of the finger can be to dry to conduct electricity.

well then I guess that sucks for people with fat fingers who normally use their nails.
why can't these phone companies just use normal touch screens that can apply for people of all weights/genders/nationalities?
I guess that means the pockets of my jeans are highly conductive to electrical charges then---cause if i put my phone into my pocket unlocked, all of a sudden I've dialed china.

exactly. and this is why people shouldn't just go rush out and buy the first phone they see just because it shines the brightest. it's their fault they didn't read up on it, because even the first reviews out there said the screen was messed up on its touch capabilities. so, they should just stop whining, tape their stupid phones and shut the hell up because it's their fault they weren't smart.

well come on, if a company makes a product, and markets it as the next big thing, it should be at least as functional as the one you're upgrading from. I bought mine the week it came out because I was looking to upgrade, and the verizon online staff told me it would support youtube. I would have never thought that the touch screen would work so poorly that I have a hard time doing the most basic of phone functions, like placing a call, and that in order for it to support youtube, i would have to wait a few months for an upgrade!
It's not whining, when you buy something from a major company, and when its advertised to be able to do something, (like place phone calls, and browse the web), its safe to assume that it should work well enough to actually do those things. It's not like we bought this from big lots, we bought this from one of the major cell phone companys, and its manufactured by one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world.
We have the right to complain, so that verizon/samsung realizes that we have a problem that still needs to be addressed (even after the upgrade, my phone has no clue what i've been trying to dial, sometimes i tap something at the top of the screen, and the bar at the bottom reacts like i touched it, I WAS NO WHERE NEAR YOU DAMNED BAR!)

If you can honestly say that VZW sucks, I can honestly say that you don't know what you are talking about and are a complete moron to say the least. They have the most powerfull network, the best funding and they constanly come out with great products. Nobody is perfect, and if you are to blame someone about the issues a phone is having, blame the manufacturer. Verizon doesn't make their phones, they only distribute them................
VZW's phones still suck. Why, if you're the best carrier, do you have the worst selection of phones? Why do phones like the HTC Touch Diamond, Samsung I900 Omnia, et al, always go to the other carriers and not VZW? Don't you think that longtime VZW subscribers (such as myself) deserve these great phones too. And please don't bring up the Voyager, Glyde, or Dare because they just don't compare. If VZW doesn't offer the new smartphones soon, they will lose avalued customer. ME!
Dylan hasn't had any problems with his Glyde, But Brenda hasn't liked it that much, so it's like any phone that comes out, some people like it, some don't.
Hey, here's a suggestion, get a Blackberry!!! RIM will rule the world one day soon...

blackberry's are excellent. their latest models, the 8800 and 8300 (curve) are excellent. i had both at the same time for business 8800 and curve for personal. one can never go wrong with rim. so i switched over to verizon because at&t had poor service, and i think it might be worst because i can't text - i can't text because the touch screen is so horrible, i can't even get to the menu!
I have the Glyde for my wife. She has nails that make it hard for her to use the touch screen. I thought it would be like the XV6800 I have as it is touch not heat..
She has had it just over 30 days. I called the store and they said they cant exchange the phone because it is over 30 days. Any Idea on the Used value of these to sell it?

Go to the store and tell them that you are having problems with the phone turning itself off. Tell them everytime you receive a messege the phone turns off and back on by itself. THEY have to exchange it for a new one.
OK, I've had this phone for a little over a month, and it seemed to get crappier each day. Yesterday I stumbled across this article. I haven't done the "mod" mentioned, but I go frustrated where I took the back cover off to look at it. Basically the whole time I've been trying to send a text message out. So while the cover is off I text. and everything seems very responsive! At this point, I think the covers are poorly made and the plastic warpens easily (it's subtle). Anyways, I thought I'd share my pain with this device as well.
Cheers,
Kelly
