It has been a busy time for Acer. Last month, at the MWC show, the manufacturer announced four new smartphones, all of them running Windows Mobile 6.1. Then, the very next day, Acer introduced four more new phones. The scorecard showed a total of 8 Windows Mobile smartphones introduced in Barcelona. But wait...there's more. During a press conference in London on Friday, Aymar de Lencquesaing, the company's Senior Corporate VP and president of the division that makes smartphones, told web site Mobile Entertainment that the manufacturer is considering starting an app store that would be accessible from their new phones.
And despite the total commitment to Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 thus far, de Lencquesaing said that Android and other operating systems are under consideration for future Acer handsets.
This looks like a developing story that we will continue to keep an eye on.
