Recently an interesting photo appeared, showing what appears to be a new high-end ASUS smartphone and today the info follows. The device is called Glaxy7 (or Galaxy7) and it looks like it is meant to compete with the Samsung OMNIA, and as such it runs on the Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 operating system. The information currently available doesn’t cover its processor or RAM, but shows a big 3.5” WVGA toucsreen, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera and the company’s Glide UI, all packed in a stainless steel body. Unlike the multimedia OMNIA, the Glaxy7 doesn’t have out of the box support for DivX or XviD video files. Navigating through the menus is done through the touch sensitive display or via a trackball, similar to the one in the BlackBerry devices.
The new ASUS is a quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) phone with 3G UMTS (900/1900/2100 MHz) support, which is not U.S. friendly. Its other features include Wi-Fi, aGPS, Bluetooth, accelerometer, 4GB of internal storage and microSD memory card slot. The phone may be launched in October this year.
