you have to get the software upgrade and then put song on your mini sd card via a card reader.

If you don't have the latest version 4 flash upgrade, go to a Verizon Wireless phone center and they will upgrade your handset to activate the mp3 option and the media buttons will then work but you need a miniSD card to store the .mp3 files. The manual is not very descriptive at all on mp3. This phone rocks!!
