Can I put my Nextel sim in a Boost phone?

I have had Nextel service for over 2 years and wanted to upgrade my i830 phone when my contract ended last month. Nextel's best deal on a phone remotely new with features was over $300. I like my i830 but seems to have some problems with getting a strong signal. I was told by a salesperson that my Nextel sim would work in the Boost i835 phone. However, when I put the Nextel sim in the Boost phone, it asks me for a code. I called boost and the rep told me if "0000" doesn't work I would have to call Motorola to have the phone unlocked. The i835 was just purchased 2 days ago. I have seen posts that I can buy a usb cable and purchase software. I tried several local stores and none of them say I can use the Boost phone with my Nextel sim card. Can anyone help me out with this?

U can but the text messaging most likey won't work! I just did that because I despise Nextel phones but I'm stuck in a two year agreement. U should double check with Nextel but they just gave me a runaround and gave me 3 different suggestions that all didn't work!
