LG VX6100 data cable
Does anyone know if the 6100 has a data cable? I have Verizon service and the only USB cable I can seem to find is through Verizon by purchasing the entire Mobile Office set for $60.
I've looked everywhere.

lg vx6100 data cable works
I'm not sure about the cheapest but i am sure about one that works:
http://www.accessorygeeks.com/lg-vx6100-data-cable.html
$24.99 from accessorygeeks.com. This cable is awesome, it charges my phone while i download mp3's and wallpapers on my phone. It also comes with the much needed driver with step by step instructions for installing it.
So far have about 30 mp3 ringtones that are about 80k to 100k in size and the quality is great. They are louder than my original ringtones and their actual songs!
Instructions:
I download the song, put it in Audacity and cut the amount i want (about 30 seconds), Then convert the song to an .mp3 (if not already) using "AFreeconverter" I got off of download.com. Finally I use bitpim 7.22 (the latest version) to add the ringtone. It's very very simple.
Enjoy

LG - VX6100 and Data Cable for Download/Upload
Drivers and their setup
Impostle's setup sounds nice, and since I bought one just yesterday I thought I'd try his suggestions.
Downloaded Audacity - Trimmed "Locomotive Breath" by 30 - 35 seconds.....still figuring out how to turn it into a MONO format....requires a lot of access to the help files.
Downloaded AFreeConverter - Haven't yet used that, the info about the type of music format is somwhat confusing......I figured RINGTONES on the VX6100 used the MP3 format.....but >>other info<< says it's a MIDI format.....
Actually I guess it's both possibly......the TRUE SOUND ringtones sound
MP3-ish and the "Beeeeee - dooooo -beepy booooooo" Ringtones sound like they were generated on a MIDI synthesizer.......I'll have to download the phone 1st to get any idea on what formats it accepts.
NOW HERE'S THE HARD PART:
The USB/DATA cable to the unit......went to Radio Shack and they sell the "Future Dial" Cable and the Future Dial Suite......$80.00 !!
Sheesh shouldn't have paid more than $40.00 for this toy!
Now the Cable HAS TO BE A UNIVERSAL DESIGN.....but they PACK the USB DRIVERS with the SOFTWARE. NOT WITH THE CABLE.
Been bouncing around the net all day attempting to find a user friendly USB driver, rather than opening up a $50 box of software......
And by the way.....if Radio Shack tries to sell FUTUREDIAL'S Cable 19.....don't buy it.
IT'S CABLE # 50 FOR THE VX6100.
And it seems the software to UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD....BitPim 7.22, it seems friendly enough, but without the USB DATA DRIVER, normally found with the USB cable.....well, there's no way to interface the software with the Phone.
So, any ideas? A nice driver install program would help.
So far I've got a couple Zipped driver files out there and they are sooooo vague you don't even know if the driver actually installed (after activating the only "exe" file found).
Man, maybe I better just install that $50 piece of software.....I'm not a newbie at this, been working with computers for 13 years now.....but I seem to be an idiot in the "Driver Installation" category.
Any help ?
Thanks Damon B

Mobile OFFICE Suite
You GOTTA WATCH OUT....
The Mobile Office Set for $60 allows you to access the internet.
It does not allow you to download / upload Ringtones, Pictures, Wallpaper etc.
They are selling two VERY DIFFERENT Software Suites for different purposes.....I just about bought one

Futuredial has Drivers on their Website
You can go to FutureDial's website and get the installation program or the individual drivers (I think). Go here:
http://www.futuredial.com/Support/do...nload_home.htm
Pick "Drivers for USB". You can register or just pick the other button at the bottom about "non-Futuredial Cable".

LG 6100 data cable
I've had the phone and data cable for months now and I love it's capabilities. As for the Radio Shack cable, don't bother. I bought mine from AccessoryGeeks.com. They've got the cable and I also bought the car charger and a nice case from them for 1/2 the of Radio Shack.

Update -- It Works!
Well the good news is....it only took a day to get the FutureDial cable working......and YES CABLE 19 and CABLE 50 ACTUALLY WORK with an LG VX6100.
You can get the cable's USB driver at:
http://www.futuredial.com/Support/d...wnload_home.htm
Next, the phone accepts MP3 and Midi-polyphonic ringtones and
Bitpim is actually easy to use.
The trick I learned about drivers is......just download the driver, open up the zip file and do nothing until the phone and data cable are plugged in.....THAT'S when it asks you to LOCATE the driver file.
All this time I thought I had to install the driver 1st......and I took that LITERALLY as......"Install the driver 1st!!"
Sometimes I hate that about me.....
NEXT, BitPim worked.....it JUST WORKED....it's intuitive....close your eyes and use it.
AUDACITY was the challenge......
I had to download the MP3 converter, but Audacity provides the link to it.
Trimming an audio file is not intuitive, nor increasing volume, taking 2 tracks (left and right channel) and merging them into a Single MONO track.....well, I spent about 4-5 hours playing "What's this button Do?"
And I still don't know if I created a Mono Mp3.......
I'd like to compress the size, by reducing the sampling rate and other various stuff....but that's kinda tuff, maybe tuffer than say....creating a Mono Mp3.
As for the program "AFreeConverter" It wasn't necessary at all....Audacity's Mp3 Exporter took care of that.
May be needed IF your Sound file is a Wav, rather than an MP3.

USB Cable driver location for LG VX6100
There is a driver on the LG site that works great with the cheap USB cable I bought on ebay. go to us.lge.com, click on mobile phones, pick the VX6000 (works perfect for my VX6100) and under "Product Details" on the left there is a USB Modem Driver that loaded right up when I ran the file. (I'm using BitPim for the actual transfers)

Hi, I just got a 6100 and data cable and was having trouble myself with the drivers and all.
This was my answer.
Step 1: go to http://us.lge.com/Product/proddetail...ge=&archivedYn
Step 2: Download the "USB Modem Driver" that is shown at the middle right.
Step 3: Install the driver
If windows says it isn't signed or whatever, just click the left option every time. (continue anyways)
Step 4: Download the latest bitpim off of bitpim.org
Step 5: Connect phone, and go!
any questions? post em' here.

Transfer rates?
I had a ton of trouble installing the windows driver for my vx6100 to usb cable - it would always complain that it couldn't find a driver, despite my downloading and installing every driver you guys have mentioned on here so far. I eventually found one that works on the Texas Instruments website (long story), and I'm getting BitPim to work, but the transfer rates are pretty bad - about 2kpbs when I'm downloading pictures and stuff off the phone. Is that about what others are getting with their cables?
