Boost phone to Nextel phone sim problem.

Okay, I got my boost phone activated today. Unfortunately, the phone works, but the radio is toast in it. I called Boost support and was told that I can use my sim from my boost phone in my old nextel phone (so long as the nextel phone is deactivated and I don't use the nextel sim in the boost phone).

So, I did that, and I can use the phone. One slight problem. Whenever I input a new number into the nextel phone with the boost sim, it comes back as a sim problem.

Can anyone help me to get around this problem until I can get a new boost phone?

Thx!

BTW, if I can keep using the nextel phone it would be preferred as I am working for a towing company and the phone will get really beaten up!

Lightbulb Boost-Nextel, From the horses mouth!

That Boost rep should never have told you to use that sim in your Nextel phone!

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it does work, not all services will work, ie. mms, sms, dc/cg. When it doesn't work, you'll put your Boost sim back in your Boost phone and half of the time you'll be locked out of it. Trust me. When it happens, I'm the one you'll be calling for help when you dial 611 and I'll have to transfer you to Equipment Research to fix your phone. It's not fun.

Here's a tip. When you put your Boost sim back in a Boost phone, it might say "Please Wait to Enter Special Code". This happens sometimes when your Boost chip has been in a Nextel phone. Wait for it to say "Enter Special Code Now". This can take up to 45 minutes. When it says to enter code now, turn your phone off for at least an hour, then turn it back on. It should be back to normal. If not, call Boost Customer Care and ask for Equipment Research.

Most Boost Care reps don't even know about the Equipment Research Team. This team handles sim card issues. If the rep is clueless, tell them that the transfer number is at the top of thier transfer list on i-connect.

Many people "know somebody" who has the special code to make this work. I cannot say if this is true or not, but it is illegal pursuant to FCC laws. When a system auditor catches your Boost IMEI running through Nextel's system, they will make sure that that sim is permenantly canceled and lock out that IMEI. Your phone and chip will be forever useless. If you have a problem with that, I guarantee you that the auditors keep impecable records when taking such actions, and a challenge will only get you fined by the FCC. The ID numbers don't lie.

The same is true for using your Boost sim in a Nextel phone. And when you call Boost because something went wrong and your payment didn't go through, or you were charged for a download that you didn't receive, or you need to troubleshoot your phone, the reply you will get is "I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems, but Boost Mobile does not guarantee any services when you are using yor Boost chip in any phone other than a Boost phone. Furthermore, we cannot troubleshoot any phone other than a Boost phone. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

But your friend said..... But I read something that said...... Don't believe me? Ok, go ahead and try it for yourself. Then call me. My number is 1-888-boost4u. But you already know what I'm going to say.

PS: Read the backs of those reboost cards, fer christ sake! When you are at zero ballance, and you add money to your account, it usually takes up to an hour for your account to become fully active. Then you need to power cycle your phone. I guarantee that the "service restricted" message on your chirp will go away!

i work for boost also and dudes rite. that rep shoulda never told you that about putting the boost in the nextel. you could get it disabled permantlyd the sim is cancled for good. and there is nothing we can do about it. so basically just stik the boost sim in a boost phone and be done with it. all that mixing up of the sim cards is not good. oh and there are a few reps like me who will try to help you even though you have a nextel witha boost chip but there is so much that i myself can do with that set-up and if i had to call the tech dept they would tell me to tell you that no service is garunteed witha nextel phone and a boost sim. and then you would be shit outtat luck. well either way you would be shit outta luck. and yeah some people are able to use the nextel for weeks, days, months, hell even years withouta problem but let me tell you..one day that wont be the case when they get caught. like dude said above there are system auditors who monitor that shit and its only a matter of time before your buddies get shut down too. and then they will call boost and get the "we're sorry there is no garuntee witha a nextel" line. so yeah. oh and its the dealer queue that you would want if you got the enter special code screen that wont go away. the equipment ressearch dept only deals with insert special sim. i should know i double check with the dealer queue everytime someone calls in with the enter special code message and usually they say to take the sim card out leave it out for a few minutes that will reset the phone but you have to put the boost sim back in and take the boost sim back out for a few min and that will reset the phone and if that doesnt work then you gotta leave the phone off for 30-45 min and then take the sim back out for a few mins and that should fix it and if that doesnt work then you gotta call boost and the rep needs to call the dealer queue. but most reps dont know about that dept either so tell them to call the dealer queue and to look at the transfer list bc there is even instructions on the transfer list under dealer queue saying to transfer there if a customer calls in with enter special code message. at least thats what is said that last time i looked at the transfer list. and that was about 3hrs ago when i was at work.

Honestly if you truely worked for Boost you would know that because they run off the same system you can take the Boost sim card and Put it into a Nextel Phone. That is why the Sprint Stores sell the Boost Mobile Starter kits that contain a Boost Mobile sim card, so customers can buy a Nextel phone but use the Boost System. Just Make sure that you call Boost back and have them update the IMEI of the phone on your account so that it matches in the system as well, as to avoid any issues.

yo

If what you were saying was true with auditors, Boost/Sprint would have calls action suits out the a** cause right on the website it says you can use either a boost phone or return life to an old Nextel Phone. So if you happen to be right or on the offset (doubtful) that you do work for Boost and this turns out to be true I will happily take them to court if they do it to me for false advertising.

Having the Same Issue

I am having the same issue with this. I let a friend borrow my phone because his charger for his boost mobile was not working. After putting it back in my Nextel I got the same error. I read up on a lot of ways, but none successful. I called up Nextel and the representative knew of the issue and got me to tech support. Tech support basically just said to do the whole take out the battery and sim card deal and then honestly said that if it didn't work that there was nothing else that can be done. This guy sounded pretty reassuring, but as I have worked in call centers and such for awhile I know how good some people are on the phone. Is there really any fix to this at all and is it the dealer queue or research team?
