Call cingular customer care and do the unlock request and you will get the code in about a week

Customer Service Manager
Actually if you Call Cingular Customer Care they Should be able to give you the unlock code on the phone through the application known as snooper.

actually that application will only work for that purpose 50% of the time...thats why the unlock request...you only have 5 attempts at it...I'm not willing to take that risk with a customers phone

Cingular CSR- Just trying to lend a hand.
What's gonna happen when you call Cingular is:
1) They'll ask you why you want the subsidy unlock code
2)They'll be really reluctant to give it to you
3)It's gonna take about a week if they DO give it to you, because we, the people you will get ahold of when you call, do not have access to getting those codes.
4)They're not in Snooper (anymore?)
btw, the easiest way to get a subsidy unlock is a) if your account is already inactive, or b) if you say you're traveling internationally.

Yeah, they aren't in Snooper anymore, if they've requested it before you might find it in Snooper in the Utilities tab, but I doubt it, and it usually takes 5-7 business days to get the code.

I'm in a COR store and we actually have a form to fill out and email. Got it from CSP by searching for "subsidy unlock" and clicking through about 3 or 4 pages to get to the form/email addy.
I'd say I personally do about 2 or 3 a month...
We usually get a response in a few days. I've only had one denied (an LG c1500). I'm still not entirely sure why it was rejected but it was...

they are in snooper but you have to have tier II access. Not all models are loaded. Most of cingular , LG, and SE are loaded

I don't recommend unlocking anything, you will lose the warranty.

the subsidy unlock code is unique to that device ... in order to get the code you have to call ATT 18003310500...tell them you bought it at a yard sale... you will get the code
