before dialing the CS make sure you know:
the serial number of the phone (printed on the back of the phone)
model number of the phone

Verizon will charge U $20 to activate the phone via landline or verizon store. If U go to vzw.com it will be free. Make sure U get the info from phone and aslo make sure phone is OFF if U decide to activate via the net.

Minor correction: Phones from many other companies WILL WORK with Verizon, HOWEVER, Verizon WILL NOT activate them. Its not a case of a problem with the phones -- its a problem with the company!

You think its a problem with the Company but the reason that they will not activate a non-verizon phone (and not ALL phones will work) is because of the waste of time and human effort that will be involved with switch over a non-Verizon branded phone. A simple *228 will not work for programing one of these phones, it would take a savy technition that is familiar with the switch that the other company was using to manually change the ESN in it so it can be programed.
