pay as you go..

hi, I'm thinking of getting on verizon so I need some advice...sorry if its a dumb question but i'm not that interested in such things.
The thing is I dont use my mobile phone that much I've consider this Pay as you go plan, but i'm not sure if it's worth it? any experience with it, anyone ?
