Deceptive GoPhone sales - beware!
I received SMS messages on my AT&T Free2Go phone encouraging me to upgrade to GoPhone by calling Cingular on a 1-877 number. Two separate Cingular representatives told me the same lie -- that my existing phone was not compatible, and I would have to buy a new one from them. One said my phone 'didn't have enough kilobytes'. They also said that if I went into a Cingular store to upgrade, I would have to buy a new phone, and pay an additional $25 startup fee.
I went to a Cingular store and switched my old phone to GoPhone without difficulty or cost. The phone _is_ compatible, and no startup fee was charged.
My advice: go to your local Cingular store. The phone sales reps are not on your side!
