Question about GSM 850?

What GSM do you need in Oakland. I am thinking about getting a new phone and i want to know if ill get reception or not?

as far as I know they use both 850 and 1900 in your area. Make it safe - get a quad-band or tri-band USA phone (including both 850 and 1900 frequencies) - all phones from carrier in the US do !

Oakland has both 850 and 1900 mhz coverage...if you are cingular your best bet is 850 as that has a wider coverage range on a national scale...1900 coverage is limited at best...as posted bay another the safest way is a quad band or a tri band with both 850 and 1900

Cingular does not sell any more single band 1900 MHZ only, they are all dual band at least, if not tri or quad, so it is a moot point...
