VZW texting question

I need to know what the VZW texting system is like. On Nextel, which I currently use, all texts are downloaded through the net and then on the phone, which takes quite a lot of time and is really annoying. I sometimes receive a text 2 days after it is sent. You can understand why I want to switch to another carrier. As most of my friends and relatives are on VZW, I would like to try it. So any info would be appreciated. Thanks

If "most of my friends and relatives are on VZW" why not ask them -- or do you not trust their judgement?
Why would you trust the feedback from total strangers on a public forum over that of family and friends?

VZW txt messaging is quite all right. It takes about 10 secs to sent or receive a message, especially if it is to another VZW customer. There very, very rare occasions when it might take longer, but most of the time it is pretty fast.
