should I come to Sprint PCS?

Hello! I'm currently with Verizon and use XV6700 (PCS6700 with Sprint) but I am not happy with the price$ of the service, so I think on coming to sprint. SHould I do it, and will Sprint allow me using my XV6700?!

How is Sprint's EV-DO? Is it slower then Verizon's?

Sprint will have nothing against you using their service with XV6700.
But you should check if your phone is locked on Verizon or not.

Cheers,
Victor

Your mobile may be locked if you purchased it with contract.

Easiest way to check - insert a SIM card from another network and switch phone on.
If you are able to make calls, your phone is unlocked.
If you get "SIM card not accepted" - your phone is locked to your network provider.

You can also contact your provider and ask them if your mobile phone is locked.

Cheers,

that would be perfect if sprint had sim cards. what your going to end up doing is talk to verizon and see if they will unlock it for you and then switch to sprint. i use sprint and personally i would rather have cingular or tmoble, pretty much anything with sim cards because there a rarly any good lookin phone within the cdma network. either that or they are extremely high priced or have lower specs.

I doubt Sprint will activate it. I've read that Sprint will not activate phones from other carriers. And even if they would, the bloodsuckers at Verizon would never do it.

Christ guys.. Horrible information given across the board.. Sprint locks their phones MSL code however all postpaid Verizon phones use 000000 as the MSL code which is what's needed when loading a PRL into the phone. Also, Verizon wouldn't "unlock" it as no other company would unlock their phones to use with another carrier. What you will need to do is call a Sprint store with the ESN (either DEC or HEX would be acceptable) to find out if the ESN is loaded in their database. If so, then congrats, you could activate it (you would have to edit some information to get the Data portion to work) but text/voice would work with no other changes needed.

1. Customer service with sprint IS the worst. If you activate your stuff with someone who knows what they're doing, and you know your plan and what you're paying for, then you won't have any troubles with your bill. Besides, although Sprint is indeed the worst, it doesn't mean that all the other carriers are good, just not as awful.

2. Definitely make sure the esn is good on the network, and then you won't have any problems. If your 000000 MSL doesn't work, call verizon and say my phone was programmed wrong and when I call people a different number shows up on the caller ID, they'll give you the right lock code to reprogram it.

3. Sprint has the best EV-DO network without a doubt. However, you won't notice a difference between a Verizon Rev. 0 phone and a Sprint Rev. 0 phone. It's the data cards that make a difference, really.

So basically, you just have to know what you're doing and get a representative that knows what they're doing. None of my customers have ever had trouble with their bill, and I've straightened out many other fubars from the store down the street and elsewhere. You'll be happy with the switch.

Angry No - Don't Do It!!!

Trust me, as someone who's unfortunately a customer - DON'T DO IT!!! Sprint has the absolute worst customer service you could EVER imagine. Along with shady billing practices and vague contracts! I kick my own ass everyday for going with them. I have SO MANY problems with my bill that I spend at least 10 hours a WEEK on the phone with those freaking idiots and the 'supervisors' always say they'll correct my bill - that is until I go to use my phone and it's been shut off - again!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!

Awwww Come on....

Where would the fun be if you didn't have to call your mobile company all the time in order to get their help??
I just signed up with Sprint, but I get a better discount with them than with anyone else - except AT&T, but I shudder at the thought.
Yes, the Sprint Call Centers aren't stocked with the best people, but I went to the store instead. They know what they're doing and you can talk to someone face to face.
I was with Verizon for 5 years, and I'm tired of them. They want more $ for everything. Everytime I asked them about new things like 7PM nights & weekends, all they could say was, "but we have the best network". They ought to considering their damn prices.

Sometimes it comes down to, 'does the phone system work?' I work with a changing group of people all the time. Seems we all have different plans, contracts, equipment, and services. We work in out-of-the-way Texas towns with small populations. By and large, the only people not complaining about their phone service are the Verizon customers. Even when I'm in my hotel, I'm roaming. I pay extra monthly charges to avoid the exorbitant per-minute roaming charges. The Verizon customers all seem to receive direct calls (not roaming) even when we're working in underground stone vaults. I'm just amazed! They keep telling me to get a real phone service.

My last experience with Sprint support went well until the end. Of course I was speaking with Srinivasa in south Asia somewhere. She told me I had to call back in 20 minutes to activate roaming. Since I have been paying for roaming for years I was confused. It took her the next 20 minutes to try and explain that. She never did explain to me why I needed to call her back and she would be able to handle something then but she could not handle it now. I never called back and I'm still roaming away.

Try it

I switched to Sprint a few months ago despite all the dire warnings I kept reading on forums like this one. Thank God I didn't pay any attention to them. I have never had a single problem with either my service or my phone (Razr2 V9m)... connectivity is FAST....I have never had a single dropped call...whenever I have gone to a Sprint store, there is ALWAYS someone there to help. I can't speak for anybody else, but , if you're interested in Sprint- give it a shot. I have not regretted it for one second.

Stay away from SPRINT

Do not sign up with Sprint. The customer service is the worst, especially when you need them.

Ive had sprint since 1999. I have a good signal when my friends with verizon can't make calls!
when I met my wife she had verizon. We kept and compared both for a year. we drove to vigina beach and vero beach florida and back to rochester ny. we also ride a motorcycle to unpopulated areas and sprint worked better everywhere.
