alltel smartchoice?

I would like to replace my alltel phone with an HTC Diamond, I know to get the reduced price I need to sign a new 2 year contract and change my national plan to the smartchoice plan for $20 more a month. I currently am not in a contract and dont want a more expensive plan. If I pay the regular price for the diamond can I keep my National plan and just pay the 5.99mo for the addition of data/web access? Thanks

As alltel will shortly be integrated into Verizon Wireless they are no longer recieving new devices

But not all of alltel is switching to Verizon so they have to be getting more phones. My alltel is not and i live in South Dakota
