HTC Dream / Android - any RDP or VNC apps?

Hi guys

I'm debating between the G1 or waiting for the HTC Touch Pro to come out.

Anyone know if there are any Android apps that work like VNC Viewer, or Remote Desktop, PC Anywhere, etc?

That is one of the major reasons I may stick with Windows Mobile, that and syncing with Exchange.

I like to RDP or VNC into my home computer to do things my phone can't do

If anyone has heard of any remote app for Android please let me know. I'm tempted to just go get the G1 but I know I won't be happy without any way of connecting to my home PC.

Thanks

Cool No remote yet - closer than I've gotten with other solutions

Nov. 17th, 2008

I have the G1 and according to posts LogMeIn is working on the G1 - I have spent a considerable amount of time on this effort and is not fully functional.

I loaded LogMeIn Free edition om my home Laptop (Pro version adds file transfer, etc.) but the free allows full remote screen tossing and mouse and keyboard control.

I log in to LogMeIn using my account via the G1 by setting the connection type as HTML (on my Mobile 5 phone I set it as ActiveX) and I'm able to login, I can see my Laptop screen on my G1 internet browser - However I am not able to control the mouse or regular keyboard functions. I am able to send ALT-TAB through the send special key stroke function.

But his of course is not what we are looking for in a remote 'control' solution... this is remote viewing...

This is the pain of going with bleeding edge - you will get cut trying to run with the technology when its only ready to walk! my T-Mobile MDA was on its last leg and I wan't going to spend the upgrade on their current Mobile PC phone, but it does have alot more Apps supporting it.

Thanks, I did finally get the G1, and I'm desperately waiting for something like VNC Viewer or Remote Desktop client.

Try Gmote

Gmote is out and seems to be liked. Since I use Linux I can't use it (yet).

Gmote is not at all what I'm looking for. That only controls media (play, pause, etc)

I need something that would enable complete control over the remote computer. I would think VNC Viewer has potential to be ported, as it's already available for many platforms including linux.

AndroidVNC

Android VNC or AndroidVnc, works like a charm with Ultra VNC and allows the ability for full desktop viewing. Still trying to figure out file transfer. Controls are a little awkward, but once you get used to them you can go quickly

I use my iPhone for just about everything. So wouldn’t it be nice to use your iPhone to access your computer(s) when you are not at your desk? At work (no pun intended) I rotate with team members to “take” call, meaning, if something needs resolved on a weekend or evening, it is up to me to fix it. My work does not currently supply a broadband card, so it is up to my own devices to have Internet access wherever I go to remote into my PC.
