The Ultimate Diamond/Raphael Questions Thread
Not that I'm a genius on the subject, but most people in this forum (no offense) seem to be clueless about the Diamond/Touch Pro. Release dates, form factors, memory, batteries, whatever whatever... If you have a question, ask it, and I'll most likely be able to give an answer. This makes it easier than trying to sort through 20 different threads and answer everyone's questions.

Diamond or Dare
Hey, so I want to buy a touch screen phone and Im currently stuck with two choices: either the LG Dare or the HTC Diamond. Since you know so much about the Diamond, do you think it is better than the Dare?

If you were to get an unlocked Diamond with full hardware specs, made how HTC designed it, absolutely. With the way Verizon has crippled it with less RAM and no accelerometer, I'm not so sure. I think it's a toss-up at this point, the one thing that always bothered me about the Dare is the fish on the desktop that always lag... Why would you implement an animation from the factory that lags even without other programs being used? A small pet peeve, perhaps... But beyond my comprehension. Honestly, I'll tell everyone who has VZW this when it comes to the Diamond, including my friends... Wait for an unlocked CDMA version to become available, and get that. Don't settle for a lesser version of the phone you want.
Another thing I figured I'd add, do you use your phone for taking a lot of pictures? The #1 thing the Dare blows other phones away in is camera quality. Absolutely stunning for a phone, much better than the Diamond's (even though the MP rating is the same).

Do you think it will be posible to get the diamond without internet subscription. I really don't use the phone for internet, mostly for music and photos. I heard VZW doesn't sell smart phones without internet subscription, so I was wondering if it would be the same for the Diamond.

I believe you can indeed get it without an internet subscription, but you would have to pay full NO CONTRACT price for the phone.
Note: They might try to tell you that you need a plan, but if you swap the handset online, they dont notice.

You'll probably be able to buy it without a subscription even from some service providers, depends on who though.

Just get an unlocked version from one of the many online phone retailers . This way you choose the plan you are on and don't have to pay for sth you won't use.

Well sprint and verizon allow you to swap phones online. You just need an ESN #. If you were to call or go in, they will push a date plan on you. Thats just how they work.

Verizon smartphones
Yes you can buy a winmo smartphone without a data plan for verizon. It costs you an extra $100 or you buy the data plan and just terminate it after 90 days. So if you get the $30 you mind as well keep it for 3 months get the service and then ditch it when you can.
question for me now.
I have a normal flip phone, nothing special the LG 8300 and i was thinking about getting one of the following phones: LG Dare, VX6900 or wait the extra few months to get the HTC Diamond for vzw. I know they really ****ed up the diamond but i think it will still be better than the vx6900 because of the new touchflo, wifi, and gps. I also can't afford the data plan which is why i thought i should wait. I am just going to use the phone for personal use, i need help getting organized and why buy a plain PDA device when i can just use a cell phone such as this.

Okay...so you didn't really ask a question, but if you are going to get a new phone and it HAS to be one of those, i would say Diamond.
The Dare's interface (UI) is not as nice as HTC's TouchFLO 3D. However, the Diamond still has WINMOB and you will have to use some of the very poorly designed features it comes it. It isn't the most media rich UI for a phone. TouchFLO 3D does give it a HUGE boost though.
Dare = Better camera
Diamond = Better UI/ Better looking/ Easier to customize!!!!!!

HTC Diamond launch date on sprint
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what would be the launch date for HTC Diamond or HTC Victor on sprints network. Becauase I did talk with some of the executives in sprint corporate but they do not have any info on that, and on the other side on the phonearena.com it says 9/2/2008....

Any phone that runs WM5/6 is capable of using "TouchFLO" due to the fact of a 3rd party software out there that uses a small flash application and a flash program to emulate it. its really nice.

I have used that 'emulator' and it is no where near as nice as the REAL TouchFLO 3D. I stress the 3D aspect.
As for the other individuals post...Diamond all the way!

meh works pretty good for me, when it doesn't mess with my touch screen configuration where I have to reprogram the taps.
